‘iPhone 8’ to Get Curved OLED Display, Metal Frame, and Glass Body

According to the latest report shared by usually reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the next-generation iPhone will get a brand new glass body, metal casing, and a curved OLED display.

Since the glossy Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are extremely popular, the company may switch to glass as the main material for the body of the handset. Apart from that, next year, Apple will reportedly switch to curved 2.5D display and possibly new aluminum and stainless steel frame, depending on the version of the smartphone.

Kuo believes that the company may introduce a new 5.8-inch iPhone in 2017. The display will be larger, however, the size and form factor will remain similar to those of the current 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus due to the new display and design.

Foxconn is said to be the sole supplier of the high-end iPhone models next year as it will be the exclusive manufacturer of the new stainless steel frame. Glass supplier Corning and glass casing maker Lens Technology and Biel Crystal are also said to benefit from the new design.

Apple hasn’t yet commented on the rumors about a brand new iPhone design. However, for the 10th anniversary of the iPhone lineup the company will surely make something special.
