LilyPad: Solar iPad Case With Built-in HDMI and USB

LilyPad looked like the typical iPad case but applies technology based on “solar ink” to continually charge the device. LilyPad can supply power to iPad for about 12 days in common lighting conditions (both indoor and outdoor), before having to charge it from the mains.   The main selling point of LilyPad is obviously its charging capabilities, but it also has other useful features. It includes a built-in HDMI output compatible with iPad and USB Power output for charging additional devices such as an iPhone. Like most current iPad cases LilyPad can double as a stand to prop your iPad at an angle of 15 degree for typing, or as a movie stand for reading or watching video. Another useful function is the Whistle Locator. Just whistle and your case will emit sounds so that you can locate it. Also the case come with a travelling bag with a cut-out to allow LilyPad to charge even when being in the bag.

Besides power efficiency, the company is also concerned with carbon footprint of its product. So from the beginning they have used 80% recycled material to make the LilyPad.

Recently the company raised necessary funds on Kickstarter and has already started manufacturing with the first shipments of LilyPads planned in mid-October. You can preorder the case by pledging $165 or more, which the creators state is cheaper than it will launch publicly. Also you will get LilyPad sooner, as the first shipment will be distributed among backers from Kickstarter. You can be sure that you will receive a quality product, as it is Apple certified accessory.
