New 10.9-inch iPad to Become Thicker, Lose Home Button

According to the latest report from a Japanese website Macotakara, the next-generation iPad may become thicker and get a 10.9-inch bezel-less display while keeping the same footprint as the current 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Apart from that, Apple is expected to ditch the Home button from the device. The report is based on the anonymous Taiwanese source.

The front panel won’t be entirely bezel-less as it will get a small bezel at the top to house the FaceTime camera.

According to the informed source in Taiwan, The bezel-less 10.9-inch iPad model of Apple has the same size as iPad Pro (9.7-inch), and the thickness is expanded to 7.5mm, which is the same as iPad Air.

The same sources also claim that the next-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro will become 3mm thicker than its predecessor becoming 7.2mm thick.

Hopefully, the thickness of the new tablets will allow to put a larger battery inside and improve the battery life, which is a weak point of Apple’s iPhones and iPads.
