Pegatron Wins Contract for Production of 25 Million iPhones This Year
According to the latest report from DigiTimes, Apple's Asian supplier Pegatron has recently won a contract for the production of 25 million 4.7-inch iPhone 6 units of the 50 million that are expected to be shipped this year.
In January, a rumor appeared on the Internet that suggested that Pegatron would get 50% of orders. Several months later, in May, a new report indicated that Pegatron received only 15% of orders.
The report also notes that the rest of the orders for the iPhone 6 are expected to go to Foxconn, who has helped produce iPhone 5s and other Apple devices.
Last year, Pegatron helped Apple to assemble its iPad mini and iPhone 5c, so this is not the first time the guys from Cupertino work with this firm. Who will produce the 5.5-inch model? This is still a question without an answer.
Apple is expected to unveil its next-generation 4.7-inch iPhone on September 9th. The device will boast of larger screen, new processor, better camera and iOS 8 on board.
