SimCity Finally Launches on the Mac
EA has finally released SimCity for Mac. This happened after a six-month delay - the game had to come out in February of this year, but since EA wanted to "ensure a great experience" for all the Mac users, they had to wait.
Anyway, what is definitely good is that this is not the game simply ported on the Apple’s platform, but a product developed specifically for the Macs using OpenGL. As to the drawbacks, the main one is the inability to play offline - EA requires the game to be connected to its servers all the time.
Some words about the system requirements:
In general, most Late-2009 iMacs, mid-2009 MacBook Pros, and mid-2010 MacBooks meet the SimCity's minimum specifications. Other systems not listed here may be able to run SimCity, but can experience graphical or performance issues and would require an OS upgrade.
If you still want to play this game, it is available via Origin store. There’re two versions - standard for $40 and the Deluxe Edition, which includes additional content for SimCity fans and costs $60. By the way, if you have previously purchased the PC version of the game you can get the one for your Mac for free. So don’t waste the time and download one of the most popular EA’s products right now.
