iPad Will Probably Be Available In WalMart Next Week

walmart-letter

Yesterday MacRumors received the photos of an email, that was presumably sent to Walmart managers and where it is said that every company’s store will initially receive five units of all existing iPad models and ten units of Apple's official iPad accessories. They will appear in 1,000 stores in the end of the October, other stores will be selling them in the beginning of November. Along with bringing the devices and accessories to the shelves the displays in the stores will be translating videos about iPad's features.

Walmart plans to start selling the iPads in 2010 were revealed in May. Previously the company overhauled its electronic departments in retail stores to include the Apple section in addition.

Also, Walmart will be the latest company that will start selling the iPad in this year. Target has been selling the devices since Oct. 3 and Best Buy stores stared offering the iPad since it was launched in April.

MobileMe Gallery App Now iPad-Compatible

1

Apple updated its MobileMe Gallery application for the iOS platform. The application was realized in January this year.  Current update brings iPad computability and full support for the higher-resolution Retina displays of the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch. In June Apple already added the ability for the iPhone 4 to download higher-resolution photos, but this update extends Retina display optimization to the entire application. The update also brings support for multi-tasking and the ability for iPhone and iPad users to view friends' galleries without the need for a MobileMe subscription.

Apple Testing Touchscreen Panels for Future iMac?

1

DigiTimes claims that Apple has recently received samples of new touch panels that would be used in a new touch-capable iMac. These touch panels are typically produced by placing touch sensors over the panel, and then a cover glass over the sensors. Such method does not require any extraordinary costs and manpower efforts, but affects display brightness. The new iMac is rumored to have a good vertical and horizontal viewing angle, and its projected capacitive touch panel will decrease dimensions of future iMac and reduce thickness and weight.

First rumors of a touchscreen iMac appeared in January, with claims of a 22-inch model set to debut sometime during 2010. A second rumor surfaced in June claiming that Apple would be holding a special event to introduce a touch-enabled iMac running both Mac OS X and iOS within the following two months. But both of them failed to take place.

Nokia CBD vs. Apple Retina... fight!

1
Come on, you knew this post was coming. Here we have a prototype Nokia E7 and its new 4-inch, 640x360 pixel Clear Black Display pitted again the iPhone 4's 3.5-inch 960x640 pixel Retina display. To our eyes, the iPhone 4 display has a noticeable blue warmth and wasn't as vibrant or bright as the CBD. The CBD, however, did come across a bit oversatured (just look at those red "breaking news" bars), but hey, it's AMOLED. It certainly looks just as good as the Galaxy S' Super AMOLED. We'll have to see how the polarized layer on the CBD affects sunlight viewing. More on that later. Until then, play nice dear readers.

Video: FaceTime On A 55 Inch TV – Will It Scale?

DisplayOut, is a a very powerful little jailbreak tweak that lets you output anything that’s on your iDevice’s screen to a TV. The folks over at iSpazio gave it a try today and unsurprisingly, it works just great with FaceTime.

As you’ll see in their video, it scales very well and besides the sound issues due to the iPhone’s limited connectivity (which could be worked around), it looks like a totally viable alternative to those entreprise video-conferencing solutions some companies are spending big dollars on these days.

New nanos connect to TV’s… for slideshows

tv

A fairly unknown feature about the new iPod nano is its ability to connect to a TV via composite cables for photo slideshow viewing on the big screen. As the diagram below displays, it’s quite simple.

Once you’re all connected, set your TV to the right source setting and start viewing your awesome pics. No flicks, unfortunately.

CNet Video: First Look at iPod Touch 4

CNet shows the new iPod Touch 4th generation and compares it with other iPod Touches and iPhones.

The good: The fourth generation of Apple's iPod Touch offers nothing but improvements, including an HD camcorder, front-facing camera, integrated microphone, FaceTime video calling, Retina Display, gyroscope sensor, and a slimmer, lighter design.

The bad: Photo quality doesn't hold up to the iPhone 4's; there's no GPS, and no option for 3G data service.

The bottom line: The iPod Touch is the best iPod yet, offering all the fun of the iPhone experience without a carrier contract or monthly bill.
