Production ramp of Apple's next-gen MacBooks creating labor shortages in China

DigiTimes reports that demand for Apple's redesigned line of 2012 MacBooks is so strong that Apple’s component suppliers are facing a labor shortage as they racing to produce enough parts to supply the Mac maker's production lines.

"Component manufacturing plants in eastern China have been suffering from labor shortages for a long time, and although May and June are the IT industry's traditional slow season when shortage issues are usually not as significant, the strong orders from Apple's new MacBook are leaving many upstream makers unable to satisfy demand."

Apple Researching Stylus Concepts with Optical Tracking and Haptic Feedback

Back in 2007, then the first-generation iPhone was launched, Steve Jobs offered an idea of a stylus for the iPhone. And it seems that Apple is still researching his ideas for stylus-based input. Unwired View has recently posted Apple patent applications filed in late 2010, highlighting optical and haptic stylus concepts. However, there is no evidence that Apple is seriously looking at incorporating a stylus into its products, but it remains clear that the company is thinking about how such pen-based input could be used in novel ways.

Apple's optical stylus is based on a tiny camera on the tip of the pen, allowing it to track patterns on a device's screen that is invisible to the user's eye.

Sn0wBreeze 2.9.5 released: added iPhone 4 (GSM) 9B208 support and GPS fixed for iPhone 3GS

iH8Sn0w released Sn0wBreeze 2.9.5. What's new:

  • Added 5.1.1/9B208 untether payload for the iPhone 4 GSM.
  • Added iPhone 3GS (iPad Baseband users) location services fix.

Just like version 2.9.4 the new 2.9.5 version supports untethered jailbreak of A4 devices on iOS 5.1.1. Sn0wbreeze can be used to create a custom firmware with jailbreak and preserve iPhone modem (baseband) version for unlock.

Sn0wbreeze 2.9.5 supports iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and Apple TV 2G. It does not work with A5 devices, like iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPhone 4S.
