Apple Increases Over-the-Air Download Limit In App Store To 50 MB

With the announcement of the new iPad, Apple has boosted the over-the-air limit for the App Store downloads to 50 MB, up from previous 20 MB.

AppAdvice suggests that the change is made to accommodate larger app files due to the new Retina display and faster 4G LTE cellular data speeds available in the new iPad. The limit is now 50 MB for all devices and affects apps that users download over 3G or 4G networks.

Developers often make considerable effort to keep their app under the download limit, as they think it increases the likelihood of spontaneous purchases.
