Apple Remains Top US Smartphone Manufacturer, LG Sees Substantial Growth - Analysts

According to the latest report from a research firm called comScore, Apple remained the top smartphone manufacturer in the United States of America in the third calendar quarter of this year. Even though Apple’s share fell from 44.1% in June to 43.6% in September, this result allowed the Cupertino-based company to continue being a leader of the market. Samsung also saw a decrease in the number of users, however, the South Korean tech giant managed to get the second place in the rating. The only company, which demonstrated growth in the number of users was LG. It came in the third spot.

ComScore's MobiLens service found Apple captured 43.6 percent of all U.S. subscribers during the three months ending in September, a gain of 1.9 percent compared to last year. The number is down 0.5 percent from last quarter's 44.1 percent share, though Apple has traditionally seen a dip moving into the annual iPhone refresh cycle.

Android is still the most popular platform in the USA with a share of 52.3%. iOS comes second with the share of 43.6% and Microsoft with 2.9% closes the top-three list.

Apple’s share is expected to grow by the end of 2015 thanks to the holiday quarter iPhone sales.
