Brightcove’s API Makes It Easier To Create Dual-Screen Apple TV And iOS apps

Today  Brightcove introduced App Cloud Core, a free edition of its app platform allowing developers to create iOS apps using JavaScript and HTML5. One of the main new features of the platform is the ability for developers to create dual-screen iOS app to transfer content to the Apple TV via AirPlay.

«The new solution enables media publishers to develop rich content apps for the iPhone and iPad that simultaneously control content, data and information presented on an HDTV while displaying synchronized content on the iPad or iPhone. The unique dual-screen solution leverages Apple's AirPlay technology, which allows viewers to use applications that simultaneously present content, interactive options and data on both the touch device and an Apple TV».

This is not a new ability for developers, but the new APIs offer another easy way for using these feature. The video above shows how developers can implement this feature.

Recently there has been much speculation on how Apple may work on a television interface. Rumors spread that Apple is working on a fully-fledged Apple TV app model as well as on Apple TV set expected to debut in the near future.

Also Microsoft recently introduced a new SmartGlass technology, which allows iOS devices to serve as second screens for content displayed on television set from an Xbox.
