Gold Apple Watch to Cost $1200 - Rumor

As you probably know, the guys from Cupertino on Tuesday announced several versions of their wearable device, namely, Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition. All of them are expected to become available no sooner than in 2015. According to the latest report from TechCrunch, the most luxurious 18-karat version of the Apple Watch may get a price of $1.200. It should be noted, however, that this is the estimated price based on the size of the device and the cost of materials used for the production of the golden smartwatch. The actual price may be lower or even a bit higher.

Although there is still some confusion as to whether the watch will be gold plated or actually made of gold, the jeweler suggested that it would be sub-optimal not to make the watch out of solid gold alloy, a decision that will drive up the price.

Chad Rickicki, a watch expert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania said that a case the size and shape of the Apple Watch in 18 carat gold would cost about $600 to make. The rest – the electronics and markup could double that price.

Looks like Apple is seriously thinking about entering the market of fashion. On the one hand, this market can possibly make Apple gadgets even more popular. On the other hand, theese gadgets may become even more expensive, making the number of potential buyers noticeably lower.
