Free in-flight movies and TV will be availabe on United Airlines planes

According to the representatives of United Airlines, in-flight movies and TV will be streamed for free for the users of iOS devices starting in April.

With this new service, sponsored by the MileagePlus Explorer Card, you can choose from over 150 movies and nearly 200 TV shows and watch them free of charge on your personal device.

Most planes will be equipped with the new system very soon, and we’ll have it installed on most domestic aircraft by the end of 2014. We’ll begin on Airbus A319, Airbus A320, Boeing 747-400 and select 777-200 aircraft, followed by additional fleets. In the end, all United-operated flights will have some form of entertainment.

United Airlines describes how the system will work. Two types of media will be available on board. In order to get access to the first type of programs you will be required to plug in using the browser of your laptop or download for free the latest United App on your Apple iOS using United Wi-Fi. The other type of programs do not require any special app or plug-in and you can enjoy them through the United Portal on your browser.

  1. Как-то запаздывают "новости"...
Аэрофлот уже полгода летает с такой штукой на своих В737. Все реализовано через систему IFE от Panasonic.
