Along with Apple, Foxconn Plans U.S. Expansion
As Apple CEO Tim Cook
"We are looking at doing more manufacturing in the U.S. because, in general, customers want more to be done there.
Supply chain is one of the big challenges for U.S. expansion. In addition, any manufacturing we take back to the U.S. needs to leverage high-value engineering talent there in comparison to the low-cost labor of China".
Apple and Foxconn has not confirmed that they plan to work together on Mac production in the U.S., but Tim Cook said that Apple's investment of $100 million in U.S. production would involve the company “working with people”.
Earlier one former senior Apple executive said that the focus on Asia for Tim Cook came down to two things: factories there can scale up and down their production faster and Asian supply chains have surpassed U.S. supply chains.
