WWDC 2011 will be held on June 6-10
Apple has announced that the WWDC 2011 will be held on June 6-10 at the Moscone West Center in San Francisco. This year conference will be special because Apple is planning to introduce the next iOS version and preview Mac OS X Lion.
"At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.”
The conference itself will be home to over 100 technical sessions and 1000 Apple engineers. Here are the specifics from Apple:

Mac OS X 10.7 Almost Ready For First Golden Master
TechCrunch reports that Apple is going to release the first golden master version of the forthcoming Mac OS X Lion to developers ahead of schedule. That means that Apple has essentially completed development on the new operating system version and will simply be fixing during the testing process. But this is only the initial Golden Master candidate. Although GMs usually mean the software will be shipping out to consumer’s soon.
Cloud-based iOS 5 Coming this Fall
TechCruch’s sources report that the release of iOS 5 was pushed back to fall. But the preview of software is expected to be introduced at the WWDC in June. The rumor is interesting because it breaks Apple’s usual release cycle. In last years Apple previewed a new version of iOS in March or April and released it by the WWDC. But not this time. The iOS 5 launch is also likely to coincide with the release of the iPad 3.
The forthcoming major revamp of iOS may bring the cloud-based operating system with rumored music “locker” service. There is also a fall launch aim for this, during Apple’s annual music-themed event. One of the new cloud service elements is likely a location service that focuses on finding friends and family members. iOS 5 is also rumored to introduce a new UI, a new notification system, direct OS X integration.
Apple Blocks Access to Cydia in its Stores
Apple seems really dislike everything that helps users to jailbreak their devices. This time Apple blocked access to the Cydia website via Wi-Fi network in Apple retail stores. If you try accessing Cydia on a device connected to one of Apple’s Wi-Fi hotspots, you’ll be surprised to see Apple’s website load instead. As far as we remember, last year federal regulators said that it was no longer illegal to hack or jailbreak an iPhone. However, Apple doesn’t care about that and continues its “war” with jailbroken devices.

New MobileMe Will Include Music Locker
The Apple’s new MobileMe, set for April, will have a new music component, dubbed “locker”. There are not enough details, but the new service is called as your digital life stored in the cloud. The locker service will reportedly costs around $20 per a year.
Apple made a licensing deal with Warner Music Group and uses it to secure agreements with other labels. Moreover, almost everybody knows that Apple is working on a cloud-based iTunes music streaming service to provide permanent backup of downloaded songs.
The service also would allow downloads to iPad, iPod and iPhone devices linked to the same iTunes account. The move would be a step closer to universal access to content centrally stored on the Internet.
That information suggests that Apple will introduce a rumored music streaming service. We’ll see. April is soon!
