Apple Replaces 'Free' Buttons with 'Get' Buttons on the App Store
Apple has changed usual free games and applications purchase buttons on the App Store. Earlier, all the software one could get without paying money was displayed with a "Free" button on top. Now those apps are available for download after pressing the new "Get" button. According to what many users report, the changes have been made both on the iOS version of the App Store and on the desktop one.
The main reason for such a change currently remains unclear. However, people familiar with the matter say that it may be connected with the recent demand from European Commission, which asked Apple and Google to change the status of apps with in-app purchases in their stores, which can't be called free.
"Get" has replaced "Free" in the main App Store view on iOS, on the App Store Top Charts, and on individual app pages. The main App Store view on the desktop is still using the former "Free" wording, but it's likely to update soon.
To notify users about the applications that require in-app purchases, the guys from Cupertino have already created special pages with information about such software called "Offers In-App Purchases". Moreover, to confirm such a purchase, one has to enter the passcode.
