iPad 5's Digitizer and Rear Casing Compared with an iPad 4

A new video was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday that compares the touch screen digitizer and rear casing of a would-be iPad 5 with the current iPad 4. The parts shown in the video look just like those from the leaked photos published before and prove that the next generation iPad will get the design, which is nearly identical to the one iPad mini has.

If to speak about the digitizer, it has thinner side bezels. As Lewis Hilsenteger of YouTube channel Unbox Therapy notes, this all helps to make the device look taller and lighter. As far as the rear casing is concerned, it is as usual made of aluminum and is a lot narrower. Due to the new body, the next-gen iPad would be only 17 cm wide. Compared to the iPad 4’s 18.5 cm, well, this makes a huge difference.

Now some words about the release date. According to what AppleInsider reports, the company from Cupertino won’t show us its new tablet on September 10th and here’s why:

Last year, the iPhone 5 was unveiled at a media event in September, while the iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad were introduced to the public in October. It's likely that Apple will follow a similar schedule this year, and introduce a second-generation iPad mini and redesigned fifth-generation iPad in October, ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Looks like we still have to wait for a while to see the iPad 5 and his younger brother called iPad mini.
