SBSettings 3.0 soon
SBSettings is a very useful and interesting application for jailbreaked iPhones. Th edeveloper is working hard on a new version of this app. It will be compartible with new firmware 3.0. Several features will be also added to the this new release.
Cydia, Installer, Icy.. what's next? Kryptes!
AppStore and iTunes are great. But when we want other useful apps we jailbreak and run Cydia. Some use Installer, others prefer Icy. Here is a demonstration of new app to install 3-rd party apps called Kryptes:
The AppStore application with references to Jailbreak
iSpazio reported a very strange AppStore applicatin called Photo Effects. There are clear references to Jailbreak due to the presence of 4 icons: "Installer" "launcher", "Terminal" and "DockSwap". Furthermore, the screenshot is quite old, was shot by the application "Dock" and portrays the 1.1.1 firmware. Open bets: How fast it will be eliminated from AppStore?
Ants are back [Cydia]
Once again we have the ability to have ants running on our iPhone. This little toy was available on firmware 1.1.x. Now the developer has update the code to support firmware 2.x. If you don’t remember ants take a look at the video below. This toy is easy to use. As you might remember you open the app and activate the ants. Then open your notes and watch the ants fill the screen. You can smash them or shake your iPhone to remove them. Ants is available in Cydia for jailbreaked iPhones.
Need For Speed Undercover cheats [Cydia]
Need For Speed Undercover was released recently. Today we can download cheats via Cydia. They will allow you to unlock cars or to have lots of money.
The first will add $999.99 to our account. The second one will add $5M and release the two most powerful cars: the Porsche Carrera GT and Pagani Zonda F. To download this package (we recommend to put one and not both), you must add the following repository in Cydia (Manage > Sources > Edit > Add): iphone.org.hk/apt/

DevTeam: OS 3.0 beta 5 is jailbreakabale
The iPhone DevTeam confirms that jailbreak on OS 3.0 is working. Nothing can be done about it since in order for apple to stop jailbreak they have to remplace the hardware. As soon as OS 3.0 will be released we can expect to have jailbreak app available.

New Skype ver 1.0.3
Skype is updated to version 1.0.3. Here is a changelog:
- Fixed crashing when clicking on certain contacts in the contact list.
- Fixed crashing when returning to the contact list after having accepted a contact authorization request in specific cases.
- Improved the handling of international calling prefixes in SkypeOut calling.
You might still see a pop-up (first time launch) saying that the application works only on non-jailbroked devices. I can assure you that it works rather well, without any problems.
iPhone 3G Baseband Downgrade GUI [Cydia]
WARNING: This tool is NOT a toy. Just use it if you can’t use yellowsn0w on your 2.2.1 iPhone 3G. Otherwise, DO NOT INSTALL IT JUST TO TEST! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
This software is for iPhone 3G users who upgraged to 2.2.1 firmware, but still need yellowsnow unlock. Yellowsnow doesn't work with 2.2.1 firmware's 02.30.03 baseband. So we need to downgrade it to version 02.28.00, that was used in 2.2 firmware. To downgrade it you need this software, that you can install via Cydia. It is very easy to use. Just download it from Cydia (called 3G BaseBand Downgrage), open the app and click Go.
The 3G Baseband Downgrade just works on iPhones 3G with Bootloader 5.8, that can be detected using minicom. If you don’t know how to use minicom, there’s a “simple” way to know if you are 5.8 or 5.9 (but this is not 100% sure). If your iPhone was manufactured before September (2008), you are 5.8. Otherwise, you are 5.9 (that can’t be downgraded).

Equilibrio is a new game where you control a ball through various levels to reach the exit. It is a very funny game where we use physics to guide a ball using the accelerometer of the iPhone and iPod Touch. In the lower left is a kind of small map that shows the structure and level of play while we try to take the coins.
GAME FEATURES:
- 5 types of balls each with different properties and gameplay characteristics
- 60 levels with an increasing difficulty (more to come in future release)
- 3 play modes: conquest, ghost mode challenge, random level challenge
- 20 trophies to unlock, like you can find in Xbox Live Arcade games.
- Support of 6 languages (EN, FR, DE, SP, IT, NE)
- Up to 4 save profiles
- Highscore table
- Unique music themes

Skype crashes on jailbraked iPhones
If you have jailbreaked iPhone your Skype app may crash. Here is what we know so far:
- If Skype crashes when trying to input text: Disable both Clippy (Use SBSettings toggle) and any custom Winterboard sounds relating to the keyboard tick (tock.aiff).
- If Skype crashes within 1 minute of having the app open: Update app called mobile substrate in Cydia. Uninstalling mobile substrate also fixes the problem, but you will lose features such as winterboard and sbsettings.
UPDATE: Many users report that Skype works fine with the latest version of Clippy (0.98-2) without the need to turn the latter off.

Apple uses a jailbroken iPhone in patent application
Recently we talked about Apple's second patent about biometric security. The funny thing is that the images used in this patent show a jailbroken firmware 1.x iPhone, with installed Installer.app, SMBPrefs and the iWood Realize theme from the iSpazio repository. There are also "Terminal", "Game", "VRecord", "Blocks" and others.

Apple patents a biometric recognition system for iPhone and MacBook
Apple filed a new patent that shows a new system of biometric recognition for the safety of iPhone and MacBook. Currently the only way to protect our devices is to use a security code, which is not safe enough. In the future Apple plans to integrate a sensor below the screen to scan our fingerprints when we execute the "slide to unlock" .
Other security methods may be that the voice recognition or facial recognition. This might include the future implementation of a front camera. Apple goes so far as to suggest the possibility of recognizing the user's distinctive voice or even collecting DNA samples to recognize a user's genetic sequence. Biometrics could also be context-sensitive and detect the shape of a user's ear before allowing a call to go through, for example.
Overall it still seems somewhat science fiction, but could be implemented in the next model of the iPhone this summer.
