The head of Apple's global data center operations Olivier Sanche died at the age of 41 of a heart attack last Thursday.

Olivier Sanche was well-known as a pioneer of data center efficiency technologies, who was appreciated for its way of thinking and eventually became a leader in planning and construction of data centers. Apple and the data industry in general were shocked by his loss.

This Tuesday Epic Games and Chair Entertainment announced that their much-anticipated game Infinity Blade will appear in the App Store on December, 9. The title will be supported by iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G and 4G, and the iPad. The price will be $5.99.

Infinity Blade is announced to be a universal game, which means that users will be able to purchase and then play it on multiple devices, like an iPad and iPhone. It will also feature a support with Apple's social gaming network Game Center.

Richard Branson, who is a British millionaire, has finally launched his iPad-only magazine called Project.

The magazine application with the same name recently appeared in the App Store and may already offer its debut issue. The latter was released this Tuesday and has actor Jeff Bridges on its cover to promote his new movie titled Tron:Legacy.

Apple seems to have grate plans for 2011. So, we’d summarized all rumors and official statement, and formed the following list, which shows Apple's plans for the new year:

• Lion OS;
• Mac App Store;
• iPad 2
• Implementing of Light Peak optical interconnect technology developed by Intel to replace such things like USB, DisplayPort and HDMI. In future, the technology has the potential to reach speeds of 100Gbps. it is also requires smaller connections and thinner cables;
• New model of MacBook Pro notebooks equipped with Intel's Light Peak, 512 GB of SSD storage, without an optical drive. These MacBook Pro's will last longer, run quieter and be lighter and more power-efficient;
• Apple-branded Blu-ray player/burning device which is also capable of burning standard optical media such as DVD or CD;
• Subscription service via iTunes, which would be focused on video services.

The new version 1.0.3366-1 of Cydia  is ready.

Commenting on the release Saurik said:

some of my long term performance plans are 'hitting pay dirt', and Cydia is much faster than it was before; that said, it isn't done yet: there's one more thing that I think is going to make a huge difference that isn't even in there yet but should be for the final release.

Apple finally released iOS 4.2 for iPhone 3G/3GS/4, iPad, iPod Touch 2G/3G/4G and even Apple TV 2G. Lot's of new features, especially for iPad. Apple calls new firmware 4.2, however the version is actually 4.2.1. Here are the download links:

Apple today updated the front page of its website posting a teaser which promises us that "Tomorrow is just another day. That you'll never forget".  An "exciting announcement" regarding iTunes is coming at 10:00 AM Eastern time. There have been no specific hints what the announcement might be related to. Perhaps, it will be a cloud-based iTunes service to stream content from the new data center the company has built in North Carolina.

Dropbox is a service that lets users to store files on a server and immediately share your pictures, documents and other files across different computers and mobile devices. 2Gb of server storage is free. The iPhone/iPad version is free and allows users to view photos, videos, documents, and presentations from DropBox online storage, upload existing files and export Dropbox files to other iPhone and iPad apps.

Dropbox has recently updated to version 1.3.1 with iOS 4.2 support. Here is a changelog:

MacStories’s source close with AT&T claims that new iOS 4.2 will be released on Friday at 10 a.m. Mac OS X 10.6.5 completed and waiting for launch.  iTunes 10.1 was ready 3 weeks ago - likely after the release of beta 2 to developers. Both updates should be released on Wednesday. iOS 4.2 will require iTunes 10.1 to be installed and  will bring AirPrint and AirPlay to the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. But Mac users need Mac OS X 10.6.5 to share a printer with an iOS device, while Windows users will access a printer through iTunes 10.1.

Today Toshiba started selling Blade X-gale Solid state drives for mass market, the same that are used in the new MacBook Airs. That was confirmed by MacRumors, which compared Toshiba's part numbers with the numbers of the components found in the latest Apple's notebooks.

Last week Cult of Mac reported that Microsoft wasn't the first company that was really interested in the Kinect technology.

The history actually begins with Israeli military engineers, who developed Kinect camera and infrared sensor. According to the report, after inventing the technology they hired PrimeSense CEO Inon Beracha so he could "shop it around Silicon Valley and find partners to commercialize it".

Some new rumors about a possible release of final version of iOS 4.2 have appeared today. Apple recently provided developers with the golden master seed of iOS 4.2 and this means that the public release is imminent. According to Inside-Handy.de the launch may be this Tuesday, November 9. Apparently the German website made contact with some Deutsche Telekom representatives who informed them of the November 9th release date.

Apple seeds Mac OS X 10.6.6 build 10J521 to developers on Thursday ahead of the public release of Mac OS X 10.6.5. The changelog for Mac OS X 10.6.6 notes that the beta "contains developer support for fetching and renewing App Store receipts." App Store receipts could be a reference to the recently announced Mac App Store that is coming to Snow Leopard in the next three months. Strangely, the download is only 3.7MB. The last update to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard came in the form of 10.6.4 in June. Mac OS X 10.6.4 resolved issues with the trackpad and Adobe's Creative Suite 3.

A new iPhone and iPad mobile browser from Skyfire was recently approved by Apple. This new iOS application converts Flash-based video to HTML5 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. The app, which is priced at $2.99 and tomorrow will be available for download from the App Store, activates a function that allows Flash video content in the browser to be sent to Skyfire's servers, converted to HTML5, and sent back to the device for display. However, it won't work with Flash-based games, which require interactivity, or popular TV streaming site Hulu.
