iPhone 4 Survives 1,000 Drop From Plane

iphone 4

U.S. Air Force Combat Controller Ron Walker accidentally dropped his iPhone 4 out of a plane when he was working as a Jump Master. The plane was traveling at roughly 150 mph when he stuck his body out of the plane door to look for landmarks. At that point, one of his pockets opened and his iPhone 4 dropped.  Ron thought that would have to buy a new phone. Later he shared the story with his friend who advised him to use Find My iPhone app. In a minute the phone was found two miles away in a wooded area between a two-lane highway and a lake. Within an hour, Ron with hope to back up his data for transfer to a replacement unit, found his device near a tree. How he was surprised then understood that the phone was in complete working order. His iPhone 4 survived a 1,000 foot drop from an airplane without a scratch on it!

No NFC Payment System in iPhone 5

NFC

The Independent has reported that Apple informed its European partners that the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology wouldn’t be used in the future iPhones and iPads to allow customers to use those devices to make purchases at retail stores.

The new iPhone will not have NFC, Apple told the operators it was concerned by the lack of a clear standard across the industry.

Although the fact that Apple isn’t going to implement NFC technology into iPhone 5 does not mean Apple isn’t working on their own NFC service for a 2012 launch.

Apple is understood to be working on its own NFC proposition, which would link payments through iTunes. It hopes to introduce the technology in a handset likely to be released next year.

Apple reportedly testing three iPhone 5 prototypes

three

A Taiwanese news site reports that Apple is now testing three radically different prototypes of the next iPhone. The first prototype, for business, a Blackberry-like iPhone 5 with a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard for faster typing. Another iPhone 5 prototype is said to closely resemble the current iPhone 4 with a longer-lasting battery and an 8 megapixel rear camera. If this prototype is released, the iPhone 5 will be to the iPhone 4 what the iPhone 3GS was to the iPhone 3G. Of the third prototype, nothing is known, but it may be the 4-inch iPhone 5 we posted about earlier today.

iPhone 5 to Use a 4-Inch Screen

screen

Rumors say that Apple might expand the next generation iPhone’s screen to 4 inches to better compete with Google Android.

The component suppliers noted that the production lines for Apple's next generation iPhone have begun testing, and Apple is interesting in expanding the screen size to 4-inches to support the tablet PC market as the vendor only has a 9.7-inch iPad in the market.

Though, Apple’s prototypes for testing usually have little bit different designs than real products.

iPads don't make you as attractive to the opposite sex as you think

If you want to look cool to the opposite sex becasue of your gadgets, you should first buy an iPhone, than a cool MacBook, than a regular book. And only after that you can consider buying an iPad. This is becasue according to the Retrevo Gadgetology study using an iPad is lower on the list of things men and women find attractive than even reading a book.

We’re not sure why this is so, perhaps there is an element of resentment toward iPad owners among those unfortunate to be iPad-deprived. 50% of men under 35 say they find people with cool phones more interesting, 46% say they are more interested in people with cool laptops. Women under 35 on the other hand, are less impressed by people’s gadgets. Only 36% saying they find cool cell phones impressive while 38% of the same group of women like people with cool laptops more.
