iPhone 4 Variation Hits Final Field Testing Stage? iPhone 5 at Engineering Verification Test Stage?
Boy Genius Report’s source claims that Apple almost completes the final field testing of a tweaked version of the iPhone 4, known as "iPhone3,2", which is expected to be the Verizon or CDMA-compatible iPhone 4 model. The iPhone3,2 will have similar SIM card slot to iPhone 4 slot, which is not suitable for CDMA phone. Perhaps, Apple is going to release model, which will provide support for both GSM and CDMA and will be compatible with all carriers. The source also reports that the fifth-generation iPhone has entered the "engineering verification test" stage, which the CDMA-based iPhone 4 completed in May.
Motorola wants to prove 11 Apple patents are invalid
Last week Motorola filed another complaint in a U.S. District Court in Delaware. Current company's approach is to invalidate 11 patents that were awarded to NeXT Software and Apple (which are both known to be founded by Steve Jobs).
It is said in Motorola's suit that these patents were named in Apple's complaints against HTC and other handset makers that use Google's Android OS in their smartphones. That explains why company wants to prove that these patents are invalid.
Here is the list of the patents that were named in the lawsuit:
White iPhone 4 exists, but you still can't have one
The very rare iPhone 4 was noticed in New York this week. The device is not available in stores, but seems to be stacked up at Apple headquarters. The Apple Blog photographed a man using the white version of the iPhone 4 at a press event this week. The owner of the device, who didn't want to be identified, said he got the white iPhone and from a friend, who works at Apple. He explained why the public can’t have this one. The main reason is the color. Apple’s manufactures can't get the white home button to match the exact shade of the white faceplate of the phone.
Slide-On Cases Causing Cracked Glass on iPhone 4s?
Apple is investigating an issueб which connects with the way how third-party "slide-on" cases for the iPhone 4 can interact with the iPhone 4's glass back and trap dirt and other material between the two layers and cause scratching that can lead to cracking or shattering of the device's glass.
Motorola sues Apple. Now every mobile company is suing every other company.
Recently Motorola announced that it has filed suit against Apple over alleged infringement of a number of patents by a range of Apple products, such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and certain Mac computers.

Third-party iPhone apps can freely transmit UDID
Apple claims that it is impossible to track a particular iPhone in real time, as its transactions are anonymous and thoroughly randomized. However, Bucknell University network admin Eric Smith suggests that third-party application developers and advertisers may link your device to your name (and even your location) whenever they transmit data. Smith studied 57 top applications in the iTunes App Store to see what they sent out, and discovered that some fired off the iPhone's UDID and personal details in plaintext, including those for Amazon, Chase Bank, Target and Sam's Club, though a few were secured with SSL. Though UDIDs are routinely used by apps to store personal data, what Smith fears is that a database could be set up linking these UDIDs to GPS coordinates or GeoIP, giving nefarious individuals or organizations knowledge of where you are.

Phone 4 hits UAE and Qatar, but without FaceTime installed
The iPhone 4 launched this weekend in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, but buyers wound up with a surprise -- their handset's front-facing cameras couldn't do FaceTime. Carriers are blaming Apple for the missing feature, and spokespersons from both Etisalat and Vodafone say they're speaking to Cupertino about reinstating FaceTime post-haste; It was reportedly advertised on Middle Eastern versions of Apple's iPhone website until around September 20th, when all references to FaceTime were removed. TUAW reports that some UAE denizens have actually tested FaceTime on phones bought abroad and found it working just fine, but that the functionality disappears after installing the local version of the iOS 4.1 update.

"I have seen a lot of technology for the blind, and I can safely say that the iPhone represents the most revolutionary thing to happen to the blind for at least the last ten years." That's what Austin Seraphin wrote, describing the experience of using his new iPhone app Color ID. It uses the iPhone's camera, and speaks names of colors....

Cydia Has Acquired Rock Your iPhone
Cydia, the jailbreak App Store, is without a doubt the symbol of jailbreaking. Rock, a second App Store, has had some success of its own over its 18 months of existence. Well, times have changed. Saurik, Cydia’s creator, has now acquired Rock and will merge it into Cydia. As a result, all apps, licenses and so on will be moved from Rock to Cydia over the next couple of days. This will bring the total number of available jailbreak apps, themes and extensions to over 20,000. As for Rock, it will be shut down.
Speed Performance Test Video: iPhone 4 Vs New iPod Touch
The only real performance related hardware difference between the iPhone 4 and the new iPod touch is that the iPhone 4 has 512MB of RAM while the iPod touch has only 256MB (like the iPad). You might be wondering what impact such a difference will have on your daily usage. Well, iSpazio came across an interesting video that pits the two devices against each other. As you’ll see, the iPod touch is actually just as fast as the iPhone 4, and even beats it sometimes.
iOS 4 “cloned” to HTC device
It looks like iOS 4.0 has successfully been cloned to another device, an HTC one in this case, and everything from iOS seems to be there. As iSpazio points out, the porting of iOS to another company’s device seems like a long-shot, so this is most likely the best, most realistic iOS clone ever. As you’ll see in the video, everything works including folders, quick-app switching, spotlight, and all the keyboards.
