PwnageTool 3.1-3 now available for download

pwnage

The DevTeam has just released Pwnage Tool 3.1-3, the new version of the tool for Mac OS that lets you run the jailbreak on iPhones and iPod Touch with firmware 3.1. The new version adds limited support for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2G. It still works with iPhone 2G (EDGE), iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 1G.

The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the phone was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 - PwnageTool does not support the 3GS out of the box. If your iPhone 3GS has 3.1 preinstalled and is not Pwned then there is no tested jailbreak solution at the moment.

The iPod 2G is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the iPod 2G was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 - PwnageTool does not support the iPod 2G with 3.1 software out of the box.

You can download in Pwnage Tool 3.1-3 here.

Action Menu: Add New features to iPhone's Copy / Paste [Cydia]

Action Menu is a new utility that extends traditional Copy / Paste functionality. You can now "Copy All" or add text to a stack ("Favorites") that allows you to paste phrases frequently at any time and in any application.

IMG_0038 IMG_0039 IMG_0040

The application is free but you can also buy an extension pack (costs $2.99) which will add new features, such as:

  • History: keep the history of all copied sentences / words / numbers;
  • Lookup: find online matches for phone numbers and words, using Google Search, Wikipedia, Dictionary, and Google Translate;
  • Tweet: send selected text through a Twitter client installed on your iPhone (currently support Tweetie, Twitterific, Twittelator and TwitterFon).

We found this utility quite useful. It can be installed via Cydia on a jailbreaked iPhone (iPod Touch).

Nokia N97 vs iPhone 3GS Photos Comparison

Here are couple photos taken with Nokia N97 and iPhone 3GS:

iphone3gs-7 NokiaN97-7

The Nokia N97 takes 5MP photos while the iPhone 3GS takes 3MP photos. All the photos in this post are resized, click to enlarge.

iPhone 3GS photos are the left ones, Nokia N97 - right ones.

As for geotagging it was turned on for both devices. The iPhone 3GS successfully geotagged all 8 photos while the Nokia N97 was only able to geotag 2 of the 8 photos. The SIM card was in the Nokia N97, while the iPhone was in offline mode. A possible explanantion is that the GPS signal on the Nokia N97 is weak as discussed on Nokia’s forums.

Take a look at more photos:

New functionality was tested with a 33 second video clip (14.7MB), sent via gmail. The recieved file was 640×480 / 30fps. Sending the same file via the share function resulted in a size of 3.21MB and 480×320 / 30fps. Here is a video demo:
