Second-Gen iPad Air Rear Shell Appears Online

Several photos showing something what appears to be the second-generation iPad Air rear shell have recently leaked online. According to what a Japanese blog called Macotakara writes, the images have been first spotted on the Chinese Sina Weibo network.

While there’s no way to check the legitimacy of the rear panel on the photos above, the leaked part seems to be authentic. It looks very similar to the first-generation iPad Air shell, however, it boasts of several differences. They include redesigned speakers and volume controls as well as the microphone placed next to the rear camera lens.

In April an alleged front panel for the next generation iPad Air was leaked as well. Apple is expected to upgrade the iPad Air in the third quarter of 2014 with an A8 processor, Touch ID (fingerprint recognition), and a main camera resolution of 8MP.

As noted by the people familiar with the matter, alongside the new iPad Air, the guys from Cupertino may show us an updated iPad mini with Retina display. Let’s wait for a while to see these devices.
