Walmart Sold Man a Fake iPad

One man from Atlanta has recently visited local Walmart store to purchase an iPad, but when he came home he found it was a fake. The thing he bought was of aluminum case with Apple logo and paper homescreen under a fake glass on the front. Most probably it was a store display unit, which shouldn't be sold.

Eventually the man decided to sue Walmart, as the latter doesn't plan to refund him and blames Apple as it is them who handle operations with actual devices and store demo units.

Some local news speculates that the man could purchase a real iPad and then swap it with fake.

March 1st as Possible Date for New MacBook Pros

macbook_pro

New rumors about possible update of the MacBook Pro line claim that the new laptops might appear on March 1st. March 1st falls on a Tuesday which is typical for Apple's releases. Moreover the previous update of the MacBook Pro was in April 2010 and now some resellers noticed that MacBook Pro models are on tight supply, and all problems with Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors, which are expected to be built in the new notebooks, were solved, so any delay will be minimal. Many also expect that some of the models may take design from the MacBook Airs.

Apple Launches First Mac App Store Section: “Personal Projects”

first section

Last week Apple launched the first Mac App Store section: Personal Projects, in which it displays apps for a specific creative audience. There are apps for musicians, designers, photographers and video editors to organize their projects and ideas at home. Now there are only five apps featured in each of four categories (covering things from design to music and photography). It looks like Apple had trouble finding enough quality apps to fill the space.

Manuals on Amazon Suggest Late July Launch for Lion

lionamazon

The  Amazon UK website placed several manuals for the upcoming Mac OS X 10.7 Lion  that will be released late in July. That fact might suggest that the operating system will also launch around that time. It seems that the OS will be released right after WWDC, this year expected to be from July 5 to July 9. The cover of one of the Mac OS X Lion manuals makes reference to the already announced Launchpad and Mission Control features but also references the dock, most of which was demonstrated last year at the Lion announcement. Noteworthy to say that the release date of these guidebooks is a good indication of product launches. For example, Amazon information predicted the release date Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac.

Apple Is Revamping Notification System For iOS

ios_notifications

Cult of Mac reports that Apple is working on a new notification system for iOS.

Apple’s pop-up notification system for new text messages, voicemails and the like has often been criticized as one of the weakest parts of the iOS. Notifications are intrusive, modal and often cryptic. It’s a mess.

And to build new technology into the operating system, the company is going to acquire a small iOS development firm that currently offers a notification system in the App Store. Cult of Mac suggests that it might be Boxcar, which offers an iOS application providing push notifications for a variety of services.
