Here’s How Macintosh OS 7.5.5 Running on Apple Watch Looks Like

Software developer Nick Lee has recently shared a new interesting video showing Macintosh OS 7.5.5 running on the recently-released Apple Watch. The video, which is available below, demonstrates how many things have changed in the computer industry over the last twenty years. In case you don’t know, the version of Apple’s operating system for Macs running on the wearable device was originally released on September 27, 1996. Quite an old build, I must admit.

To make Macintosh OS 7.5.5 running on the smartwatch, the developer used watchOS 2.0, which is a beta now, and the Mini vMac Macintosh Emulator. It is a special tool that allows to execute older software on modern devices.

Lee was able to accomplish this with an Apple Watch running watchOS 2 and the Mini vMac Macintosh Emulator. The mini vMac Macintosh Emulator is designed to allow more modern devices run software that was designed for early Macintosh computers. Macintosh OS, System 7.5.5 was designed to run on a PowerPC Mac at the time of release.
