Apple Cut Prices For Touch Panels By Nearly 50 Percent

As DigiTimes reports, despite Apple’s orders for touch panels from iPhone and iPad 2 have considerably grown for the third quarter, the company is said to place orders at about half the price of previous orders. This initiative could mean that Apple either attempting to lower BOM thus increasing margins at the expense of manufacturers, or the company is preparing for cutting prices ahead of new devices releases. Google Has Acquired Motorola Mobility for $12.5 Billion



Google and Motorola Mobility

Today co-founder and CEO of Google Larry Page officially said that their company has acquired one of the largest smartphone manufacturer – Motorola, specifically Motorola Mobility. The company was sold for $12.5 billion, which is 63% more than the closing price of the company on Friday, August 12. This deal has yet to be approved by several official authorities in USA and European Union, as well as Motorola Mobility’s shareholders. All transition processes is expected to finish in the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012.

In Response To Flash Player Trojan Apple Updates Anti-Malware Data

Since a raid on Russian payment processing company ChronoPay two month ago, there was not much work for malware defense system of OS X , but a new trojan horse did emerged earlier this month. According to F-Secure, the trojan called "OSX.QHost.WB.A" disguises itself as a Flash Player installer and adds records to a file on the computer’s host to redirect users trying to visit some of Google sites. The server in Netherlands shows a fake webpage that is very similar to the real Google site.

BBC iPlayer Launched In 11 European Countries, Soon In US

As Guardian reports, BBC iPlayer will be released in eleven European countries, and later this year it will become available in the United States, Canada and Australia. The global iPlayer service is available via iPad app in Austria, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain.

Apple To Pay $8M For Violating iPod Playlist Patent

According to Bloomberg report, based on the information from the lawyer for plaintiff Personal Audio, a jury found that Apple had indeed violated two patents relating to downloadable playlists for iPods. Coby Electronics, Sirius XM Radio and Archos were also included in the suit, but they resolve the dispute out of the court last year.

HP Exploring Possibility Of Licensing WebOS And Samsung Is Said To Be Interested
