Foxconn Source Says 46-55-inch Apple TV Sets Are Currently In Testing

According to the report from Taiwan’s Central News Agency, citing a source from Foxconn, the supplier is currently testing several designs for Apple’s HDTV sets, but it is "unlikely" that the product will be shipped in 2013.

While The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Sharp was involved in the testing of the product with Foxconn, the news agency’s source said the possibility of Sharp producing panels for the future Apple TV set is "not high".

The source also said that Apple is testing displays in the range from 46 to 55 inches, which means the company will likely not rely on Sharp’s facilities that are best suited for manufacturing 60+ panels.

However, it seems Apple doesn’t yet have display suppliers in place, as the Foxconn source said:

“We have not yet confirmed the LCD panel supply source with our client.”
