The Next Web reports that Google has updated the YouTube app for iOS devices. Now the app supports iPhone 5 and the iPad and can stream videos via AirPlay.

Google’s senior software engineer Horia Ciurdar said that over 25 percent of all watching on YouTube happens on mobile devices. The report notes:

“Now the YouTube app will get ‘enhanced’ AirPlay support, letting you shoot your videos over to your Apple TV. Videos are also said to start faster and play more smoothly. Google has also improved VoiceOver support for those with visual impairments”.

The YouTube app had been available on every iOS device since the introduction of iOS platform, but Apple opted to remove the app from iOS 6 Beta. After the iOS 6 was introduced, Google launched a native YouTube app for Apple’s smartphones.
