Sn0wbreeze can be used to create a custom firmware with jailbreak and preserve iPhone modem (baseband) version for unlock.

FireCore has announced an update to Seas0nPass to jailbreak the new iOS 5.0.2 firmware for the Apple TV 2.

Seas0nPass updated for Apple TV 5.0.2. Still untethered. http://seas0npass.com

You can find step-by-step instructions on how to jailbreak Apple TV 2G with Seas0nPass here (Windows, Mac OS).

Apple released new iOS firmware for Apple TV 2G and latest Apple TV 3G. The build number is 9B830 and the firmware can be installed via Software Update or by direct download:

• Apple TV 2G
  • 5.0.2 (9B830)
• Apple TV 3G
  • 5.0.2 (9B830)

We don't see any new features or apps in new 5.0.2 firmware. It is unclear what's new there.

Using this tutorial you will be able to untether jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 (5.0 9B206f and 5.0.2 9B830) running on Apple TV 2G. This tutorial uses Seas0nPass for Mac OS X or Windows.

Step one

1. Make sure you're running the latest version of iTunes.
2. Download Seas0nPass: Mac | Windows
3. A micro USB cable will be required to connect Apple TV 2G to computer.

Don't Forget to Save Your iOS 5.1.1 SHSH Blobs to preserve the ability to do iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak in the future. Apple might release updated iOS firmware soon to fix and disable the jailbreak. After next firmware release you will not be able to restore to 5.1.1 any more.

Every time Apple releases a new firmware it stops the ability to restore to an older firmware. If you need to restore to old firmwares you need to save your SHSH keys as soon as possible.
