motorolla1Motorola has taken out yet another full page ad in the New York Times, this time making fun of the iPhone's lack of Flash. The ad reads: "Flash Websites? There's a phone for that. Introducing the new Droid 2 by Motorola." This is obviously a play on the "There's an App for that" slogan used by Apple.

2.8-inch iPod touch for $99!

image-1According to iLounge, at this week’s event Apple is planning to unveil its new 2.8-inch iPod touch sporting the same resolution as latest versions of the device. It is said that the current Nano’s screen is a bit smaller, only 2.4 inches. At the same time it is running on the same processor (although it has less RAM).

The idea is pretty good, because it will help fill the gap between your Nano and Shuffle devices.

Some users believe that they would have difficulties in typing on 2.8-inch iPod touch, but we are sure that kids will really appreciate it. And the price is pretty funny, right?

Yet it is a very interesting concept. Just imagine Wi-Fi, web browser, email, 250, 000 applications from the App Store, maps, videos, photos and much more for $ 100 dollars. Is it tempting?

World’s Most Advanced Machinery Was Reason For Apple’s Liquidmetal Deal

l2

Apple’s recent deal with Liquidmetal Technologies will give it access to the most advanced manufacturing machinery on the planet. And probably Apple will soon start experimenting with a new machine.

  • It may allow Apple to make advanced iPhone antennas and seamless gadget cases with holographic logos cast right into the metal.
  • Made for the aerospace industry, it would have undergone several rounds of cutting, milling, drilling, threading, deburring, routing and sandblasting. Instead, the part was cast in one operation and requires no further processing.
  • The alloys, also known as bulk metallic glasses, are as strong as titanium but use only one-third of the material. It can be mixed with very small amounts of precious metals to make jewelry-like finishes, or optimized for functions such as an antenna. Liquidmetal is scratch and corrosion proof, and resistant to greasy marks. You get fingerprints all over them and they just disappear.

Former Apple manager accused of hiding $125k in shoeboxes

1Paul Devine, the Apple supply manager charged with accepting kickbacks from overseas partners, allegedly had more than $150,000 in cash stashed in shoe boxes in his home when it was raided by federal agents. Moreover, the investigation had found “a significant number of overseas accounts and a significant amount of money”. The judge determined that Devine represents a potential flight risk if he is let out on bail before the foreign funds have been moved into the U.S.

Earlier this month, Devine was arrested and charged with wire fraud, kickbacks and money laundering. Prosecutors have alleged that the Apple global supply manager used his security clearance to provide confidential information to the hardware maker's suppliers. Apple's partners then allegedly used the information to negotiate favorable contracts with Apple, and, the prosecution says, paid kickbacks to Devine. Devine is accused of accepting more than a million dollars from Asian suppliers.

How to Fix Facebook for iPhone 3.2

FixFacebookforiPhone3.2ProblemFacebook for iPhone 3.2 was released last night and now it supports the newly created function "Places", background downloading of photos and videos in iOS 4, together with other visual enhancements, such as "pull-to-refresh" for the iPhone. However, for many users, this new version was mostly broken, with the following error "Unable to load the page" on most of its pages. Yes, and if you try to uninstall and reinstall the application, it simply refuses to "Log in".

As it turned out, this problem occurs on jailbroken iPhones for those users who have installed the application BiteSMS from Cydia. The new Facebook application for iPhone 3.2 is not compatible with the current version of BiteSMS. So if you have installed this application, removing it from Cydia, you’ll solve this problem, at least it really helped some of the users.

We hope that the new version of BiteSMS will be released pretty soon and will be compatible with this new version of Facebook for iPhone.

Camera+photography app left App Store

apple-cameraApple has removed the updated of the Camera+ application from the App Store within two weeks. It happened because Cupertino found out that the current app has some hidden downsides allowing let the volume buttons on the iPhone side to act as a camera shutter button, each time a user comes opens Mobile Safari and searches for the URL camplus://enablevolumesnap.

It definitely violates the regulations and rules of Apple, that’s why the company decided to get rid of this application quite unceremoniously. What does it mean? It means that when you try to buy the app, you’ll get the following error: “the item you are trying to purchase is currently unavailable”.

The developer of the Camera+ photography application, TapTapTap, might think about creating new versions of the app in future, but we hope it won’t have such “surprises”.
