These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS (all bootroms) and iPhone 4 using Limera1n for Windows. Limera1n supports iOS 4.0, iOS 4.0.1, iOS 4.0.2 and iOS 4.1. Use the same steps to jailbreak iPod Touch 4G and iPod Touch 3G and even iPad. You can find the Mac OS version of this tutorial here.

iPhone iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Released from GeoHot, called LimeRa1n
Famous hacker Geohot is back and today he released the latest iOS 4.1 jailbreak. It is called LimeRa1n and supports iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G with iOS firmwares 4.0-4.1 and beyond. It can also hacktivate your device, so there is no need in phone SIM-cards and other tricks.
This software is still in beta and was updated 3 times in last several hours. So use with caution.
There is Windows version only for now. Geohot plans to release LimeRa1n for Mac and Linux soon. You can Download it here.
Some users report that they have jailbroken their iOS 3.2.2 iPads successfully with limera1n, while others report that they tried, but failed.
Do not forget to backup.
For many users of iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0.2 now there is a hope to perform jailbreak using LimeRa1n and unlock using ultrasn0w. We recommend NOT to do it if you have not saved your SHSH keys. You can try, but if something goes wrong without SHSH keys you'll have to restore to iOS 4.1, and there is no unlock for iOS 4.1 (possibly forever). Just wait for PwnageTool utility.
DevTeam reported that Limera1n uses a different exploit than SHAtter, so they will not release SHAtter utility, they don't want let Apple fix both security holes. However they plan to release PwnageTool using the same exploit.

Wall Street analysts report Apple develops new iPhones
Shaw Wu, who is an analyst at Kaufman Bros., said yesterday he has information that Apple develops new models of iPhones, which have both smaller and larger touch screens. According to his sources close to Apple's supply chain overseas new products will most probably appear next year and support such carriers as Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
"Our sources believe these likely represent new high-end and low-end iPhone models to complement its current iPhone 4. One possibility we are picking up is a "mini" or "nano" iPhone with a smaller candybar form factor leveraging technology in its new mini touchscreen iPod nano."
Apple Drops AirPrint Compatibility for Second-Generation iPod Touch
Apple dropped support for AirPrint in iOS 4.2 on the iPod touch 2G. When Apple just released AirPrint on September 15th, the second-generation iPod touch was listed as a compatible device for the service, but only two days later the company dropped support and modified the press release to note support for only the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch.
MobileMe Gallery App Now iPad-Compatible
Apple updated its MobileMe Gallery application for the iOS platform. The application was realized in January this year. Current update brings iPad computability and full support for the higher-resolution Retina displays of the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch. In June Apple already added the ability for the iPhone 4 to download higher-resolution photos, but this update extends Retina display optimization to the entire application. The update also brings support for multi-tasking and the ability for iPhone and iPad users to view friends' galleries without the need for a MobileMe subscription.
Apple Planned HDR Photography On iPhone 3GS?
We’ve gotten some evidences proving that Apple originally planned to include HDR support for the iPhone 3GS, but dropped it. Just look at this picture, found in the iOS SDK:
Apple TV teardown
The experts at iFixit torn down the new Apple TV. Here some interesting info they managed to find out inside the new Apple’s set-top box:
Future iPhone's were found in the AppleTV firmware
The Apple TV firmware has some new information about future Apple devices. 9to5Mac reports that this firmware has presented two new iPhones and an «unknown» device.
The iPhone 4 is referred to as «iPhone 3,1». The firmware has traces of two devices known as «iPhone 3,2» and «iPhone 3,3». Additionally an «unknownHardware» is also present within the Apple TV iOS. The iPad, several versions of iPod and older versions of iPhone are also there (see screenshot above).
So, what is it? Verizon iPhone? A new antenna design? And, what about the «unknown» device? Some future version of the iPad?
iPod Touch 4G with iOS 4.1 is jailbroken
The new exploit is called SHAtter. It was developed by hacker pod2g a few months after hacker p0sixninja from the Chronic Dev Team discovered the crash. The same exploit can be used to jailbreak iPhone 4 and iPad with new firmwares. So iOS 4.1 and maybe even iOS 4.2 is not a problem any more. Soon we will see the utilities from DevTeam to perform the jailbreak.
The DevTeam published a video if a jailbroken iPod Touch 4G. Take a look:

Phone 4 hits UAE and Qatar, but without FaceTime installed
The iPhone 4 launched this weekend in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, but buyers wound up with a surprise -- their handset's front-facing cameras couldn't do FaceTime. Carriers are blaming Apple for the missing feature, and spokespersons from both Etisalat and Vodafone say they're speaking to Cupertino about reinstating FaceTime post-haste; It was reportedly advertised on Middle Eastern versions of Apple's iPhone website until around September 20th, when all references to FaceTime were removed. TUAW reports that some UAE denizens have actually tested FaceTime on phones bought abroad and found it working just fine, but that the functionality disappears after installing the local version of the iOS 4.1 update.

iPhone 4 vs iPod Touch 4 Comparison Videos
This week the letemsvetemapplem.eu posted a couple of videos, which compare the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch, as well as the iPhone 3GS and iPad. The iPhone 4, latest iPod touch and iPad all sport Apple's custom A4 processor, though the iPhone 4 has twice the RAM as the 256MB found in the iPod touch and iPad.
Nokia CBD vs. Apple Retina... fight!
Come on, you knew this post was coming. Here we have a prototype Nokia E7 and its new 4-inch, 640x360 pixel Clear Black Display pitted again the iPhone 4's 3.5-inch 960x640 pixel Retina display. To our eyes, the iPhone 4 display has a noticeable blue warmth and wasn't as vibrant or bright as the CBD. The CBD, however, did come across a bit oversatured (just look at those red "breaking news" bars), but hey, it's AMOLED. It certainly looks just as good as the Galaxy S' Super AMOLED. We'll have to see how the polarized layer on the CBD affects sunlight viewing. More on that later. Until then, play nice dear readers.
