iFixit Teared Down Apple’s new iPod Touch
Experts from a teardown firm iFixit the internals of the new fifth-generation iPod touch. The teardown offers a look at how Apple has managed to pack all of the details into a body, which has 20 percent less volume than the fifth-generation iPhone. The iPod touch lacks cellular communications technology and carries fewer details, which are consolidated into a handful of parts. The battery and logic board are smaller than in the iPhone 5 and they are arranged in a top-and-bottom layout unlike the side-by-side layout used in the iPhone.
Tightened iPhone 5 Quality Control Standards Slowed The Production Process
According to Bloomberg’s , Apple has tightened quality control standards for iPhone 5 production, in order to decrease the number of smartphones that are delivered with scratches on its aluminum shell right out of the box. But the initiative seems to have slowed the production of the new Apple’s smartphone.
“Stricter benchmarks have hampered production of the iPhone 5's anodized aluminum housings, forcing Foxconn's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. to idle factories”.
Foxconn Workers Reportedly Strike over iPhone 5 Quality Control Demands

Thousands of Foxconn workers responsible for assembly of the iPhone 5 have gone on strike today, objecting to strict quality control standards that were raised by Apple and Foxconn to address issues related to scratching and other blemishes on the iPhone 5 casing. The new standards turned out to be extremely difficult for workers to produce phones satisfying those requirements.
Apple Preparing to Begin Shipping Fifth-Generation iPod Touch
Last month, at the media event, Apple introduced the fifth generation iPod Touch. The updated version has a 4-inch screen, the same as the iPhone 5 and a number of color varieties. Apple immediately began taking pre-orders for the device, but in general it will be available in October.
Charging The iPhone 5 Costs About $0.41 A Year
Today energy efficiency company Opower a study estimating the annual cost for charging the new iPhone 5 at $0.41. While a user’s actual cost varies based on electricity rates in their regions and on use, the company's estimate assumes that a user charges the device once per day at 11.8 cents per kWh (U.S. average).

Phil Schiller: Scratching Of iPhone 5 Is Normal As With Any Aluminum Product

According the from 9to5Mac, one of its readers emailed Apple’s chief of marketing Phil Schiller, regarding scratching of the new iPhone. Scratches on the iPhone’s body are most visible on the black models because they reveal the silver color of the aluminum underneath the anodized slate color. Schiller said that scratching is “normal” when the device is in use.

AuntenTec Will Stop Supplying Fingerprint Sensors To Non-Apple Customers in 2013
According to Korean website , fingerprint sensor company AuthenTec has notified many of its customers, including Dell, Lenovo, HP, Fujiitsu and Samsung, that it will stop offering its technology to them as of next year. In July Apple agreed to buy AuthenTec, and it is expected that AuthenTec's board will approve the acquisition in October.
Apple Sold Over Five Million iPhone 5 In Opening Weekend
Earlier we reported on Apple’s announcement that customers had pre-ordered more than two million iPhone 5 in the first twenty four hours of availability. Today Apple that first weekend sales of the new iPhone 5 exceeded 5 million units, surpassing the four million iPhone 4S sold during the device’s opening weekend last year.
