iPad Apps Are More Expensive

appstorepricing

Obviously, the iPad apps are more expensive than those for the iPhone/iPod touch. But you probably don’t know that their prices increased in the past six months. The average price for the iPad app increased from $4.34 in April 2010 to $4.97 in October 2010 (+14.5%). Prices for the iPhone apps increased only from $3.94 to $4.03 (+2.3%). Moreover, now developers prefer to create applications compatible only with the iPad. iPhone 3G Performance On iOS 4.2

After iOS 4 release in June, it was laggy and generally not a good experience for many iPhone 3G users. Nevertheless, the due to release iOS 4.2 is running pretty well on iPhone 3G. Here is a video of iPhone 3G running the iOS 4.2 GM version, which is usually identical to the final release. The video was shot by TIPB.com. There were not any significant lags, and the keyboard was responsive. But, as usual,  the real problems appeared after some usage time , when you bloat the system with all your email, calendar entries, and vast number of contacts.

Apple And Google Interested In Buying BOKU?

boku

Both Apple and rival Google are interested in purchasing mobile payments company Boku. San Francisco-based Boku is a startup company, which aims to bring "bank-grade payments technology" to mobile platforms and create the standard for online payments using a mobile phone. The company has partnered with mobile carriers to allow customers to purchase goods using their mobile phones. Customers simply enter their mobile phone number when looking to purchase an item and a confirmation message is sent to their device. The resulting charges are then added to your wireless monthly bill. It would eliminate the need for the use of credit cards for online transactions. As expected, Apple may spend at least $250 million (and up to $450 million) to acquire BOKU.

Though such machines won't fit as primary computers, especially for power users, they should fit fine for light-duty users. Walt revealed that even the $999 model can run 7-8 programs at the same time, even if there are iTunes, Safari Web browser with couple of dozens of apps opened and Microsoft Office among them.
