SemiAccurate says that Intel will become Apple's supplier of ultra-high performance version of its Haswell for the coming MacBook Pros. According to the report, the chips will boast a special version of Intel's highest-end GT3e (Iris Pro 5200) integrated graphics.
It was Apple that requested a special top bin cream-of-the-crop GT3e selection from Intel, with "as much GPU power as possible." Now when most of the top chips are bought by Apple, much less will remain for Intel's other customers.

TSMC will produce A-Series Chips for Apple.

According to Wall Street Journal, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) has agreed to supply Apple with A-series chips. Although the matter has been discussed since 2010, the deal was only signed this month, and TSMC starts producing some of the chips in 2014. By that time, the Taiwan company will improve the quality of the products so that they meet Apple’s requirements. The chips will become smaller and more energy efficient by using 20-nanometre technology.

When negotiating the deal, the American company offered either to invest in TSMC or to assign one factory as an exclusive Apple supplier. However, the Taiwan company did not accept either of the options to keep TSMC independent and adaptable.

Samsung used to be Apple’s main A-series chips supplier, but present ferocious competition between the companies is forcing the latter to diminish its dependence on the Korean company.

Analyst predicts: no iPad Mini Retina this year, it will be released in 2014

DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim has issued a note predicting that the new iPad mini will not feature the Retina display many are expecting.

Apple is expected to refresh its iPad mini in the second half of the year. The new iPad mini will continue to use a 7.9-inch display with a 1024×768 resolution, but it will use the iOS 7 operating system and an A6 processor, in a slimmer design than the current generation. Another iPad mini is also planned for production but not until early 2014. That device is expected to feature a QXGA (2048×1536) resolution display and the iOS 7 operating system.

New iPhone 5S and iPad Mini 2 May Not Arrive Until Fall

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a new report adjusting his previous roadmap for new Apple product releases. He previously predicted that Apple would launch new iPhones and iPads in June/July. Unfortunately, that has now been pushed back significantly.

Earlier we estimated that shipments of the new iPhone would begin in July (FDD version) and September (TDD version), while iPad mini 2 would hit the market in August. Currently, market consensus for shipments of iPhone 5S, low-cost iPhone and iPad mini 2 is July, July, and August, respectively. But in light of publicly available information and our knowledge of technological trends, we now think all three products will begin shipments later than our previous expectation and market consensus.

Leaked iPad 5 Front Bezel

An image of a front bezel allegedly for the iPad 5 has been leaked on nowhereelse.

A picture that was sent to us by one of our moles Chinese may indeed be the first evidence the imminent release of the next iPad. Supposedly produced to equip the iPad 5, the side edges of the front panel display that you can see in the picture below cons are indeed much finer than the front of the current iPad 4 or iPad Retina. The proportions of this framework are at first glance similar to the part of the iPad Mini.
