The culprit that robbed Steve Jobs' family home, was sentenced to seven years in prison





IDG News Service reports that Kariem McFarlin, the robber who stole Apple products and other items of equivalent value at $ 60.000 from the home of Steve Jobs' family in last July, has been sentenced to seven years in prison. McFarlin broke into the house, which was in repairing, and stole two iMacs, three iPads, three iPods, Apple TV, jewelry and other items.

LG Bumped Apple To 3rd Place In US Handset Market



Recently the iPhone have captured a record 53 percent of the smartphone market in the U.S, but when it comes to its second place in the handset market (feature phones and smartphones combined), a new report said LG moved Apple to third place during December thanks to strong sales of its highly popular Optimus G.

Apple Rumored To Release 4.8-Inch iPhone Math In June



According to China Times’ report translated by BrightWire, Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 5S along with a larger phone called "iPhone Math".

The iPhone Math is highly unusual name that does not conform to Apple's traditional naming scheme, so it is unclear if it is a code name of the device or a potential mistranslation.

Amazon optimizes its MP3 store to attract customers using iOS devices.



Today, Amazon announced about optimization of the music store for Safari app on iOS devices. This move is the company's desire to dominate the digital music market.

"Since the launch of the Amazon Cloud Player app for iPhone and iPod touch, a top request from customers has been the ability to buy music from Amazon right from their devices. For the first time ever, iOS users have a way do that – now they can access Amazon’s huge catalog of music, features like personalized recommendations, deals like albums for $5, songs for $0.69, and they can buy their music once and use it everywhere,” said Steve Boom, Vice President of Amazon Music.

Facebook Messenger application now allows to make voice calls for the United States accounts



This month, Facebook updated the Messenger app for iOS with beta support for VoIP calls between Facebook accounts. This feature was originally limited to Canadian iOS accounts but now is being opened to all United States accounts, reports The Verge.

Oracle Released Java 7 Update 11 To Fix Security Vulnerability



On Friday, we reported that Apple had used its anti-malware system in OS X in order to disable Java 7 browser plug-in over a security vulnerability that was widely exploited in the wild.

Apple's anti-malware tool is able to enforce minimum version numbers for such plug-ins as Flash and Java, and the company simply updated its blacklist to require that computers be running higher version of Java 7 than was publicly available.

27-inch iMac production can be improved in the next month



Apple's 27-inch iMac continues to be in short supply, as Apple sets deadline for delivery of new online orders 3-4 weeks. 21.5-inch models have been delivering within 7-10 days. Even before the launch of the new iMac, it was expected that the device will be in short supply in the 2013, in connection with questions on assembly of new displays. The process involves laminating the screen directly on device's glass.

Apple Rumored to Be Testing New 'Touch on Display' Technology for Next iPhone



Chinese sources claim that Apple is testing a new display technology, dubbed "touch-on," for use in its next iPhone model to address issues with the current "in-cell" display found in the iPhone 5.

Apple has reportedly contracted with Chimei Innolux, Taiwan's largest LCD maker, for the next-generation panels, according to The China Times (via AppAdvice). Apple's interest has reportedly been prompted by alleged "interference problems" with the recently released iPhone 5.

Next-Generation iPhone to Launch in More Colors



Analyst Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets said in a note to investors Wednesday that his checks within the industry have indicated the so-called "iPhone 5S" will come in a variety of colors beyond the current black and white. He expects that the next iPhone will be available in a total of eight colors: the pink, yellow, blue, green, purple, silver and slate shades currently found on the iPod nano, and a (Product)Red model with proceeds benefiting AIDS research.

18,5% Of Mobile Phone Subscribers In U.S. Are Now Using iPhones



Today comScore published the results of its survey of mobile phone subscribers in U.S. for the September-November period, noting that 18.5% of mobile phone subscribers are using an iPhone, up 1.4% from the data for June-August timeframe. Samsung continues to lead the pack with 26.9% of the market share, up from 25,7% in the previous period, while LG, HTC and Motorola lost their shares.
