Apple TV Firmware updated to 5.0.2 (9B830) for 720p and 1080p models
Apple released new iOS firmware for Apple TV 2G and latest Apple TV 3G. The build number is 9B830 and the firmware can be installed via Software Update or by direct download:
- Apple TV 2G
- Apple TV 3G
We don't see any new features or apps in new 5.0.2 firmware. It is unclear what's new there.
Apple's next iPhone 5 may sport HD-capable front camera
KGI analyst Mingchi Kuo said in a note to investors earlier this week that Apple's sixth-generation iPhone could include a front-facing camera capable of HD resolution. He also believes that Apple could employ a flip-chip (FC) solution for the front-facing camera on the upcoming iPhone so that the camera’s position would be moved to the middle.

Apple Replacing Google Maps On iOS With Its Own Solution Later This Year
You’ve obviously heard that Apple is going to refresh its Maps application in the forthcoming iOS6 and move away from Google Maps that Apple has used since the launch of the iPhone in 2007, replacing it by the company’s own service.
The Wall Street Journal chronicles the last five years that have saw Google and Apple going from best of corporate friends to sworn enemies spending a great deal of time disparaging each other in courts. The latest confrontation seems to be closely connected with Maps.
Apple To Update Almost Entire Mac Lineup At WWDC
According to 9to5Mac, Apple is going to update “at least four” out of company’s five Mac lines at Worldwide Developer Conference on June 11. Apple’s current Mac families are MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Pro and Mac mini. The most likely candidate for an update is the MacBook Pro that has been reported by multiple sources to be adopting a slimmer form factor with the upgrade.
Siri Reportedly Coming to iPad with iOS 6
9to5Mac reports that one of the features in forthcoming iOS 6 is Siri version for the iPad. Currently Apple’s voice assistant is supported only by the iPhone 4S. As for the new iPad, the device has dictation with voice recognition, but not seeing the inclusion of full Siri support at its launch earlier this year.

Several Features From OS X Mountain Lion Are Coming To iOS 6
Along with several features found in iOS 5, Apple’s OS X Mountain Lion also includes some features that will appear in the upcoming iOS 6. 9to5mac’s sources, iOS 6 will have Mail VIPs, iCloud Tabs support and a Notification Center enhancement.
'Exciting' Sept. could see Apple intro new iPhone, iPad 'mini'
Analyst Brian White with Topeka Capital Markets met this week with his contacts in the supply chain who let him know that Apple is gearing up for what is expected to be an "exciting" September, where the company could launch both its next-generation iPhone, as well as smaller iPad.
White suggests that Apple is likely to launch its next-generation smartphone in September, rather than October. As far as you remember, the iPhone 4S was introduced in October, which was a few months later than the iPhone launch window that Apple had utilized in prior years.

Samsung Galaxy S III uses identical Sony-made camera seen in iPhone 4S
iFixit in conjunction with chip analysts ChipWorks tore down Samsung's new Galaxy S III smartphone, revealing that the device is sourcing a newer version of the same Sony-made camera used in the iPhone 4S.
ChipWorks confirmed on Friday that the backside-illuminated sensor found in Samsung's new Galaxy S III handset is being sourced from Sony and may be a newer version of the component used in Apple's iPhone 4S. While iFixit initially claimed that the sensor is "basically the same unit" used in the iPhone 4S, further examination of the chip revealed that it could be a slightly refreshed product. It seems that the camera's sensor is where the similarities between the two devices end, however, as Samsung uses its own memory and optics to complete the unit.
'Greatly enhanced' iOS Maps, upgraded Camera & Photos apps expected at WWDC
At this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) Apple is likely to present new software features in iOS and OS X, and refresh its Mac line up.
Analyst Shaw Wu said on Friday that a new Maps application in iOS to be unveiled at WWDC later this month will be a "greatly enhanced" version with 3D capability. The app was internally developed by Apple and allows the company to move away from Google.
55" Apple LCD TV for about $2,000
Piper Jaffray’s analyst Gene Munster suggests that Apple's full-fledged television set with screen sizes between 42 inches and 55 inches will be retailing between $1,500 and $2,000. Such product will be unveiled later this year and will hit the market about six months after it is announced and will be sold in the amount of approximately 110 million units, he believes.
