Apple Discontinues Software Updates for iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2G
The iOS 4.3 beta was released a couple of days ago. But the update isn’t available for second generation iPod touch and iPhone 3G installation. iOS 4.3 beta 1 noted that AirPrint was the dominant component of attention. AirPrint requires an iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 3G iPod touch, or 4G iPod touch. AirPlay and Game Center require an iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 2G iPod touch, 3G iPod touch, or 4G iPod touch. General multitasking an iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 3G iPod touch, and 4G iPod touch. Two of the three dismiss the 2G iPod touch and all dismiss the 3G, however, AirPlay and Game Center are important features. Take it as at least a warning that the second generation iPod touch and iPhone 3G are nearing the full “end of life” designation.
Next Generation iPhones Referenced in iOS 4.3
The latest iOS 4.3 build contains model references to not yet released iPhone and iPad models indicated in the code as:
iPad2,1
iPad2,2
iPad2,3
iPhone4,1
iPhone4,2
The first generation iPad carries a model number of "iPad1,1", the current iPhone 4 is 3,1 for AT&T and 3,2 for Verizon. These new designations likely represent the next generation iPad and iPhone. Perhaps, the second digit represents hardware differences between models - such as a Verizon iPhone and AT&T iPhone. We’re thinking maybe China is getting a new iPhone. Or maybe the magical white iPhone has something different to it or maybe that Sprint event on Feb 7th is for a WiMAX . The iPad is also believed to be coming to both Verizon and AT&T, so that may explain at least a few of the different model numbers.

Apple's next-gen iPad to get iPod touch-like back, wide-range speaker
Japanese blog MacOtakara published a new portion of rumors concerning Apple’s iPad 2. It claims that the second-generation iPad will have a smaller bezel, a flat back panel and a wide-range speaker. These changes might be caused by a couple of criticisms of the original iPad design. The outer plastic bezel surrounding the LCD screen of the iPad was seen as large by some. Thus, the forthcoming iPad will be 3mm smaller; reportedly measuring 239mm by 186mm. LCD screen on the next-generation iPad will stay the same size. The Ambient Light Sensor will be moved to the "upper center of the rear panel and has a new 3mm slim hole". According to rumors, production of the new iPad has already begun and it will probably start shipping in the mid of January.

Apple adds 12 more patents to lawsuit against Motorola
Apple added 12 more patents to their lawsuit against Motorola. So, the total number of patents that Apple accuses Motorola of violating reached 24. Motorola claims that Apple infringed on 18 of its patents that include 3G, GPRS, 802.11 wireless and antenna design and accused Apple in refusing to pay a license. Apple’s motion to add 12 more patents to the lawsuit is just counter-suit against preemptive request filed by Motorola in October, which reference 11 patents 11 patents that Apple used in its suit against HTC but not Motorola.
Apple was called the "world's most-sued tech company" since 2008. For example, in 2009 27 patent infringement lawsuits were filed against Apple. Of course, responding to those claims takes lots of time and money.
