Apple and BlackBerry will work on CarPlay





According to  N4BB, Apple will collaborate with BlackBerry to use its QNX to unleash CarPlay. QNX has officially approved Apple as its partner on the website of the company.

“Connectivity to smartphones and other mobile devices is a key strength of QNX Software Systems’ platform for car infotainment systems, and many automakers and tier one automotive suppliers use our platform to implement smartphone/head-unit integration in their vehicles. We have a long-standing partnership with Apple to ensure high-quality connectivity with their devices, and this partnership extends to support for Apple CarPlay.”

Top 10 Stories of the Week

Apple's New 5.6-Inch Smartphone Won't Be Branded As 'iPhone' - Rumor



According to a new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, Apple will indeed release 4.7-inch and 5.6-inch handsets this year. However, the 5.6-inch device won’t be branded as ‘iPhone’. And this is a very interesting move from the company from Cupertino.

Samsung cannot produce enought A8 processors



According to a source in Taiwan, Samsung will not produce A8 processor for Apple because of low production yields.

TechNews Taiwan reports:

Samsung is currently the main problem facing the problem of low yield in its 20nm manufacturing process, not the title at Apple's demands, the need for an appropriate portion of A8 processor orders to TSMC, but based on recent progress news, Samsung was forced to abandon the orders may be more than just part of A8, A8 processor is probably all be produced by TSMC.

iOS and Android Dominate on World Smartphone Market



According to the latest estimates, iOS and Android accounted for as many as 95.7% of all smartphone shipments in Q4 2013. And this is a substantial increase, I believe, because in 2012 the two platforms had 91.2% share. 17.6% of shipments went to iOS and 78.1% - to Android.

iPhone 6 to Be Lighter than iPhone 5s?



According to the latest report from LEDinside, Apple’s iPhone 6 will become slightly lighter, even though it will boast a larger display. The guys from Cupertino will probably use a new lighter frame for the next-gen handset and thinner LED backlights.

Apple to Use LG Chem's Lithium-Ion Batteries for iWatch



No more rumors claiming that Apple’s long-anticipated iWatch will use solar power as a source of energy; as noted by several reliable insiders, the new wearable gadget will be equipped with a usual lithium-ion battery, manufactured (most likely) by LG Chem. However, there’s no information about the battery capacity of the would-be device.

Apple gets another claim for e-books price fixing



On Friday, another claim was filed over Apple for conspiring with publishes to fix E-Book prices. This time Cupertino company is believed to owe American E-Book customers at least $280 million in damages.  Steve Berman, who is the attorney representing the consumers, states that due to the conspiracy E-Books prices rose 18.1 percent, which lead to $280 million in damages.

State attorneys general and consumers who sued the world’s most valuable technology company over its e-book pricing are seeking $280 million in damages and want that amount tripled, a lawyer for them said in a filing yesterday with the federal judge in Manhattan who presided over the U.S. case against Apple.

San Francisco Apple Store boasts sliding glass doors



According to SocketSite, the new Apple Store in San Francisco will boast two gigantic glass sliding doors. They will be over 44 feet tall and 23 feet wide.

Another set of renderings of the redesigned Post Street façade for Apple's proposed flagship store on Union Square which now features two full-height sliding glass doors, each measuring 23 feet wide and 44.5 feet tall, allowing the store to be opened to the street: Note the regular sized all-glass doors in the non-sliding bays which would act as the primary access points for the store when the full-height doors are closed.

The proposed retail store has already been redesigned for several times. At first, Apple was planning to destroy a historic fountain. However, due to growing complaints the designers developed a project of the fountain relocation. Another addition is an 8-foot wide glass window located on the side wall.

Apple Loses Revenue in Europe and America, Asian Sales Grow Rapidly
