Five years of Apple: 2005 iBook to 2010 MacBook Air
Five years ago, Apple was selling the iBook G4 which evolved from the original iMac. The iBook released mid 2005 got 1.33 or 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 processors, 12.1 inch or 14.1 inch display, weighted 4.9 lbs (2.2 kg) (smaller version) or 5.9 lbs (2.7 kg) (larger version). Both models had 1024x768 screen resolution and were 1.35 inches (3.4 cm) thick.
Apple's latest laptop, the 11.6 inch MacBook Air, is equipped with 1.4 or 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, weighs just 2.3 lbs (1.04 kg) and is only 0.68 inches (1.7 cm) at its thickest.
iPhone 4 is the most difficult product to buy in China
Ticongera Securities analyst Brian White provided another update for investors while touring the Far East. In his note he says that iPhone 4, iPad and 11-inch MacBook Air are the most difficult products to purchase in China.
Local carrier China Unicom cannot fulfill almost a third of preorders, and people wait for their devices for around two months. That creates wide growth opportunities in China, and White says Apple's interest in this market is definitely positive.

What replaces the Xserve?
Apple surprised everybody when it decided to discontinue its Xserve line on November 5th. The company officially offered a faster Mac Mini and the Mac Pro, both with Snow Leopard Server installed, as the replacement of the Xserve. IT professionals who maintain data centers small and large claim that these aren’t complete solutions compared to the density of the Xserves. About a third of Xserve shops will be migrating to other hardware within the year. Some Apple’s System Engineers assure that Apple has another solution in the pipeline beyond what they’ve announced. Nobody knows what it could be, because Apple builds its own A4 processors, running in parallel, and a data center for cloud services.

Apple hires people from RIM's enterprise sales team
According to the recent Wall Street Journal report, at least 5 RIM's former employees made a switch to Apple in the last year and a half and thus updated information in their resumes. Here are their names:
RedSn0w 0.9.6b4: jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 released
DevTeam worked hard for the last several hours and released jailbreak tool for iOS 4.2.1. It is redsn0w 0.9.6 b4.
As usual we remind all ultrasn0w unlockers please stay away from this official firmware. Wait for the ability to create custom 4.2.1 IPSWs that don’t update your baseband!
New redsn0w 0.9.6 b4 uses limera1n exploit and will successfully jailbreak all devices. The only problem is that it is a tethered jailbreak, which means you will have to plug it to a computer and rerun redsn0w on every reboot. This so called tethered or semi-tethered jailbreak. This condition applies to iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 2G (MC model), iPod touch 3G and iPod touch 4G. Hackers are working hard to create untethered jailbreak for these devices. To use future untethered jailbreak you need to save SHSH keys for iOS 4.1 using
Old devices like iPhone 3GS (old bootrom), iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) can be jailbroken-untethered right now using this latest version of RedSn0w.
You can download RedSn0w 0.9.6 b4 here.

Real White iPhone 4 Handsets Appear On Chinese Market?
GizChina reports that the genuine white iPhone 4s are being sold by unofficial resells, that means it is being sold on the Chinese gray market. As you can see from the above image, the handsets appear to be real, though it hasn’t yet been confirmed. The boxes, in which the device comes in, are marked with a label warning the phone should be used for internal company use only and not for sale. Currently, the handsets are selling for around $899. This price, obviously, is well above the official retail price of the regular black iPhone 4 in China.
iPad launched in Russia today with very limited stock
Yesterday, 9th November, the iPad was officially launched in Russia. Six models of the device are now available in three retail chains: M.Video, Bely Veter and re:Store. The iPad will be on sale only in five cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, and Kazan. There are only 3,000 to 4,000 iPads available in the country on launch. But by the end of the year Apple plans to ship forty to fifty thousand units to Russia. Prices range from 19,990 rubles (US$650) for the 16GB WiFi model to 32,990 rubles (US$1,075) for the 64GB WiFi+3G model. However, it seems that those Russians, who wanted to get the iPad in Russia, had already bought the one abroad or in the grey market, where price for the device reached 100,000 rubles, or US$3,256.
Apple's example Mac app prices land around $15-20
In the screenshot above, you can see a Macbook Air with a picture of the new Mac App store, which divines some potential prices for Apple's official apps. This is directly from Apple’s website. So, what are the prices? Turns out they're pretty close to current software prices. The iLife apps are priced out at $14.99, while the iWork apps are priced at $19.99, and when you add them all up, they cost about the same as the bundles you can buy in the Apple retail store. There's also a few other titles at various prices. There's a dice game called Roll 'Em which is priced for free, an app called Color Studio at $29.99, and another game called Fast Lane priced at just $4.99. If this is a real picture of what some of the Mac apps might cost then it will be interesting to see what we get when the store officially opens.
