HIS iSuppi has published its estimate of the cost of iPhone 5’s bill of materials (BOM), which they made based on industry knowledge and information disclosed by Apple. The estimate, which doesn’t include many other costs associated with manufacturing, sales and product development, pegs the bill of materials of the entry-level iPhone 5 with 16 GB at $199. Following Apple announcement made earlier today that it  received two million pre-orders for new iPhone in the first day of its availability, analyst from Piper Jaffray Gene Munster has issued a new research note forecasting that Apple will sale from 6 to 10 million units during the launch weekend. He bases his estimates on impressive pre-order numbers and comparison with last year’s pre-orders for the iPhone 4S. He noted:

Rumors say that pre-orders for the next generation iPhone 5 are reportedly set to begin the morning of Friday, September 14th, according to MacRumors:

MacRumors is now hearing that pre-orders may not begin tomorrow following the media event and that they may instead start on Friday morning in a scenario similar to last year's debut. We're hearing that certain portions of Apple's online sales support team are significantly increasing their staffing levels beginning at 6:00 AM Eastern on Friday, with a major surge for the initial shift beginning at that time and a sustained level of high staffing for at least the remainder of the day.

Last year, the iPhone 4S was set to begin pre-orders at 12:01 AM Pacific Time the Friday following the Apple's media event.

So users are given an extra couple of days to get the money together.

iLounge reports that Apple will be the only supplier of its new adapter for the next iPhone that will allow the new device to be used with 30-pin dock connectors. Reportedly Apple will sell these adapters for $10 each or $29 for three pieces. However, it is also possible that the company will allow third parties to manufacture such adapters at a later date.

The Verge published Apple’s list which includes ban requests for Galaxy S 2 for AT&T, Galaxy S 4G, Samsung Skyrocket, Galaxy S Showcase, Galaxy S2 Epic 4G, Galaxy Prevail, the S2 on T-Mobile and Droid Charge.

The Verge reports that today in the Samsung vs. Apple court trial Apple called a financial expert Terry Musica to the stand. While on the stand Terry Musica provided the jury a breakdown showing how much profits Apple lost due to Samsung’s patent violation. According to his estimates, Apple lost 2 million iPad and iPhone sales, costing $488.8 million in total. The calculations are based on the products that Samsung is accused of copying, royalty fees that Samsung should have paid for accused products, and profits that Apple have lost.
