New iMacs: Teardown, First Benchmarks
Only couple days ago Apple released new iMacs with Sandy Bridge possessors and Thunderbolt technology. iFixit’s team, of course, immediately started tearing down a 21.5-inch model. They found that this model iMac opens in the same way as previous generations by pulling off the magnetically-held glass and removing the screws holding the LCD in place.

Many sources claim that Apple plans to incorporate 3D technology into the next-generation iPad.
The fact that the iPad 3 is 3D is a dead cert, one Hollywood insider close to the big movie studios told RCR, adding that the screen would be the real magic. She went on to say that the big film studios were currently running around like blue arsed flies trying to gear up to release plenty of 3D content in time for Apple’s next launch.
Apple Unveiled Its New iMacs
Yesterday, on May 3 Apple has unveiled its new iMac desktops, which are up to 70% faster that its previous generation. Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing was traditionally excited to present new devices:
"Our customers love the iMac’s aluminum enclosure, gorgeous display and all-in-one design. With next generation quad-core processors, powerful new graphics, Thunderbolt technology and a FaceTime HD camera, we've made the world’s best desktop even better."

Newspaper thinktank predicted the iPad in 1994
In 2007 the Paleofuture blog posted the video below, where Roger Fidler and his team at Knight-Ridder describe an electronic newspaper running on what might as well be an iPad. But the video was shot in 1994.
"We may still use computers to create information, but we will use the tablet to interact with print, video and other information," the video explains. It also goes on to describe personal "profile pages," "interactive maps" and sharing links with friends. It even seems like Fidler is channeling Steve Jobs at some points, saying "Nobody needs a manual for their daily newspaper". Amazingly, he even seems to describe iAds.

The White iPhone Is Actually Thicker Than The Black iPhone
The long-awaited white iPhone 4 started selling yesterday. At first glance it looks like the regular black model. While Apple doesn’t list any size difference in their Tech Specs page, Ryan Cash of Marketcircle notes on his personal blog that the white iPhone is actually slightly thicker (0.2 mm) than the black iPhone. It’s not the steel enclosure that’s thicker on the white version; it’s the plastic (see the photo above). Ryan came to that result then he’d experienced some problems when trying to fit the white iPhone in older iPhone cases. Though the difference is very minimal and visible only when comparing the devices, and not so many cases will probably have this problem.
Three Foxconn Employees Arrested for Leaking iPad 2 Design
Before the release of the iPad 2 various Chinese and Taiwanese sources provided us with several “leaked” case designs that gave us indication of what the device would look like. These cases were all based on the same design principles such as tapered edges, thinner body and flat back, clearly suggesting manufacturers had access to the same design documents that were quickly spreading across the tech industry.
Several online shopping retailers in China were able to sell iPad 2′s protective case products before the iPad 2 was even launched, leading Foxconn to suspect that there might have been some employees leaking the design of iPad 2 which it reported to the local police.
Three reasons Apple might ship the iPhone 5 in the fall
We still don’t know whether Apple realizes or not the iPhone 5 until September or early fall. But we’ve tried to sum up all possible reasons why Apple might officially launch the iPhone 5 this fall. First of all, Apple announced Verizon iPhone only in February and the white iPhone’ has stared selling today. An October shipping date of new iPhone would give Verizon and the white iPhones time to enjoy their purchases without temptation from the next model of Apple’s smartphone. The second reason is that Apple typically updates the iPod line in late summer/early fall. This encourages back-to-school sales and jump-starts the all-important Holiday shopping season. By bringing the iPhone into line with its iPod refresh cycle, Apple could better position new iPhone sales so that giving an iPhone for Christmas doesn't feel like you're committing to last year's technology. And the last reason is firmware update. The iPhone 5 and iOS 5 may be presented simultaneously showing us more revolutionary than evolutionary changes.
White iPhone 4 Sales Officially Begin
Apple has finally begun selling the rumored white iPhone 4 after a 10-month delay since the original unveiling at the WWDC 2010. Steve Jobs and Phil Schiller told in an interview to Mobilized’s Ina Fried that the white iPhone was really “challenging” to make because of “unexpected interactions” of the white color with several internal components. Moreover, the white model of iPhone 4 indeed has a different proximity sensor than the black one.
Apple Officially Responds On Location Tracking Issue
After a week of discussions around the discovery that the iPhone has an inbuilt algorithm of keeping track of users' locations in unencrypted file, Apple finally shed light on the subject.
Before we repost the company's , here is a short summary. Apple says it's not tracking the location of iPhone users. It maintains a database of celltowers and Wi-Fi hotspots that allows to calculate your location when requested much more quickly than it can be made with the help of GPS only. The location data is being sent to Apple in anonymous form, and users' iPhones download only the necessary part of the database.

iPhone 6 To Use Next-Gen Thinner Displays from Sharp
Nikkan, Japanese newspaper, reports that Apple and Sharp may have entered into agreement on manufacturing displays for the sixth-generation iPhone. Rumors are based on the fact that Sharp has already begun preparation for the start of manufacturing in Spring next year at its plant in Japan for an iPhone display using next-generation technologies.
Next MacBook Pro to Get New Case Design
There are some rumors claiming that the next revision of Apple's MacBook Pro line will utilize a brand new case for the first time in several years. Macrumors.com pointed out a February iLounge piece that asserted that 2011 will see the “all new design” described as “a big milestone” for the MacBook Pro family. iLounge reported that this new design was under development at the time at Quanta Computers, a contract manufacturer. There no specifics on what the next MacBook Pro might look like, though many have previously speculated that Apple will take cues from the MacBook Air line that offers an iMac-inspired design with a black-bezel and aluminum unibody casing.
BGR got photos of another iPhone prototype that works on T-Mobile
This Saturday Boy Genius Report published photos of a new iPhone prototype with a codename N94 (codename of Verizon iPhone 4 is reportedly N92). The device works "with T-Mobile USA 3G bands" and runs a test version of iOS, as photos reveal Radar and Directory apps, which are accessible only for the company's employees.

The Problems with a Retina Display on the Mac
The latest build of Lion includes some icons which are sized at 1024x1024. That's twice the current 512x512 size of icons in Snow Leopard. Additionally, on April 2nd, Mac blog OSXDaily found some of the default wallpaper resolutions in Lion to be as large as 3200×2000 pixels (see the shot below). A few observers noted that this is higher than any Apple display has ever supported, generating speculation that Apple is preparing for "Retina" display Macs in the near future.
Taking cues from iOS, Apple has reportedly built in support for what it calls "HiDPI display modes". These HiDPI modes allow developers to supply 2x-enlarged images to support double-high resolution displays. Like the iPhone 4's Retina Display, this means that user interface elements will remain the same size, but everything will be twice the resolution and therefore twice as detailed.
Prototype next-gen Mac Pro detailed: redesigned, rackable, stackable
Current Mac Pros’ design deputed in the form of the Power Mac G5 in mid-2003, almost eight years ago. Since then, the Mac Pro has received processor, RAM and storage updates, but the exterior design is basically the same. So, it’s not surprisingly that Apple is now toying with the re-designed version of the Mac Pro. A Mac Pro prototype is now in testing that features a narrower (just about 5 inches wide) and shorter (about 19 inches) design. One of the reasons that Apple might be making this particular Mac Pro prototype smaller is because it is able to fit on to a standard server rack. This makes sense in that a rack-mountable Mac Pro could easily replace the gaping hole in the product line left by the discontinued Xserve. The rumor says that the new Mac Pro features stacked drives with two drives per sled for a higher storage density than is currently available. The sleds can be configured either with SSDs or conventional hard drives. New Mac Pros would also have a Thunderbolt port and perhaps even BluRay options for the Final Cut Professionals.
Apple Gives Selected Developers the So-Called iPhone 4S For Creating New Titles
9to5Mac has posted interesting information on Thursday, which reveals that Apple is going to make gaming performance of the next-gen iPhone as one of its major marketing points.
In order to do that Apple has already selected highly professional developers and gave them devices that look exactly like iPhone 4 but have an A5 processor instead of an A4. It is obviously possible due to the support of A5 chip, recently found in the iOS 4 SDK. The source of this information calls the device as the "iPhone 4S" (iPhone 4 Super?) and says it is used only in Apple's offices.
