Experienced users can also try update to iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading your baseband by using TinyUmbrella. Start TSS Server->Start iTunes->Plug in your iPhone->Restore 4.2.1->Error 1013->Put phone into DFU Mode->Launch Greenpois0n.

Three new iPad offerings appeared on Best Buy's site. All three models described as "APPLE COMPUTER INC. - APPLE IPAD SKU WIFI" and availability listed as "coming soon". Two of the models carry price tags of $599.99, while the third comes in at $699.99. No other information beyond the scant details included on the product pages is available, and thus it is unclear if these listings are intended to reflect second-generation iPad models, some sort of internal SKU shift on existing models, or perhaps simply an error on Best Buy's part.

The U.S. Marine Corps is reportedly experimenting with the use of the iPad for recruiting. The commander of the Marine Corps Recruiting Command explained in his recent interview that the Corps is doing well in recruitment, but that needs a huge advertising budget. So, the iPad should help them to decrease expenditure.

The new version 1.0.3366-1 of Cydia  is ready.

Commenting on the release Saurik said:

some of my long term performance plans are 'hitting pay dirt', and Cydia is much faster than it was before; that said, it isn't done yet: there's one more thing that I think is going to make a huge difference that isn't even in there yet but should be for the final release.

Just a day after PwnageTool 4.1.1 release, DevTeam created one more update for popular jailbreak utility - PwnageTool 4.1.2 for Mac OS X. This release should solve some problems that users had. However there are still users reporting iTunes errors when restoring custom firmware. Anyway PwnageTool 4.1.2 is worth trying.

Today DevTeam released new version of jailbreak utility PwnageTool 4.1.1 for Mac OS X. This release solves some of the problems with the previous version 4.1. Many users had errors with restore process, some had Cydia crashes. If you had any problems with PwnageTool 4.1 - we recommend you try to use the new version PwnageTool 4.1.1.

iTunes continues to serve iOS updates even if your Apple’s device was jailbroken. And if these updates are downloaded and installed occasionally, your device may be returned to  a non-jailbroken state.  Here the script, which prevents iTunes from automatically downloading updates:

As Engadget reports, Apple has recently been granted a patent for a pretty clever concept. It’s a “handheld device” which can recognize different users just from the way they hold it. Once the device knows its user’s identity, it can then personalize button areas that match whichever fanboy is currently gripping it.

Some users are interested in a little button that is located in the lower right corner of the latest iPod touch screen. What can it be? Is it one of the Photoshop errors by Apple developers? Apple has removed the updated of the Camera+ application from the App Store within two weeks. It happened because Cupertino found out that the current app has some hidden downsides allowing let the volume buttons on the iPhone side to act as a camera shutter button, each time a user comes opens Mobile Safari and searches for the URL camplus://enablevolumesnap.

It definitely violates the regulations and rules of Apple, that’s why the company decided to get rid of this application quite unceremoniously. What does it mean? It means that when you try to buy the app, you’ll get the following error: “the item you are trying to purchase is currently unavailable”.

The developer of the Camera+ photography application, TapTapTap, might think about creating new versions of the app in future, but we hope it won’t have such “surprises”.

So you have an iPhone with iOS 4.0, but don't have the original SIM and stuck on the Emergency Call Screen:

1. Download ifunbox software (download link)
2. Run ifunbox software and sync with phone
3. Go to /private/var/root/Library/, delete original lockdown folder and put this lockdown folder after you extract it from the zip file
4. Restart phone

As you might know iPhone 4 is available unlocked in many different countries around the globe. The prices vary a lot.

Filip Chudzinski from Germany put together a comparative chart with iPhone 4 prices. As you can see below it can often be well worth it to order your iPhone 4 in a different country (you’ll need an intermediary), or even just going across the border.

Update: some users report that this chart contains errors, so do not forget to check everything before traveling around the globe.

Update 2: the data is not valid at least in Finland and Sweden.
