Retina iPad mini will be delayed



iPad mini second generation launch will be delayed due to shortage of Retina displays. The company was planning to introduce the device at the end of 2013, to cover the Christmas shopping period.  However, now the launch is put off till early 2014.

It is also rumored that Apple will be offering both Retina and non-Retina iPad mini second generation. However, it is still uncertain how the price will differ.

Robber Steals iPhones and Leaves His Samsung Galaxy Instead



A man broke into Springfield wireless store, stole several iPhones and ran away. Seems to be a perfect crime, huh? It could have been such, unless the robber left his own Samsung Galaxy at the crime scene.

New Angry Birds Star Wars to Come July 15



Last Friday Rovio announced a new game. Well, personally I believe that won’t be something entirely new since this studio has only one product, which is truly famous and it’s called Angry Birds. Yes, I know about Amazing Alex and The Croods as well as about other apps created by Rovio, but come on, do you really believe they can be like Angry Birds called world’s game #1? Beeline is not renewing contract with Apple



Hi-Tech Mail reports that Beeline will not be renewing its contract with Apple.  Beeline is the last of Russian carriers who make such a decision. Beeline is planning to offer Samsung devices instead of iPhones.

Last month Apple established an online store for Russia; it was high time Cupertino Company did it. Now that three major Russian carriers are not working with Apple any more, its remaining contract with Svyasnoy will not be a good sell.

Apple components contain illegally produced tin



Apple’s representatives of environmental task group are visiting Indonesia to find out whether tin is really supplied from illegal mines.

Bangka Island, located in Indonesia, is the world center of tin production. Recently, rumors appeared of illegal and unregulated mines operating in the region. That is why Apple initiated a fact-finding visit to carry out a study of local mines so that the situation was under control.

Apple works with nearly 250 suppliers who use tin in producing components. It remains to be seen whether the tin is illegal or not. Meanwhile, Samsung  admitted using illegally mined tin in its products.

Verizon is likely to owe Apple $14 Billion



A recent marketing research discovered that Verizon may end up owing Apple 14 billion dollars for selling less iPhones than it committed to do in 2013.

According to Craig Moffett, a telecommunications analyst, in 2010 Verizon signed an agreement with Apple to sell iPhones worth 23.5 billion dollars during 2013 alone.  However, the figures of 2012 show that Verizon failed to fulfill the commitment by two times. This will undoubtedly influence the dividends, as the 12-1 billion means 4-5 dollars of each share.

Apple and Google are getting on better



Google and Apple seems to be improving their relationship. It is proved by Google's chairman Eric Schmidt, who says : "These are two proud, well-run, different companies."

Apple and Google met on Allen and Company Sun Valley Conference where tech moguls meet every year. In fact, the two companies have always been quite close as the CEOs, Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs knew each other for years. Eric Schmidt was even one of Apple’s directors, before Android OS was launched and they competition with Apple began.

Apple's Looking for New Suppliers



AppleInsider reports that according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo Apple’s currently looking for new suppliers. And there’re three main candidates, namely Taiwan's Compal Communications, Wistron and Inventec Appliances. The first company once worked for Nokia, Sony and Lenovo; the second one is a BlackBerry supplier and as to the third firm - it is currently working on Apple’s iPod.

iPad trade-in by BestBuy



This Friday and Saturday Best Buy is launching a trade-in program for iPads. You can get a 200$ or more gift card for bringing in your iPad 2 or 3. The gift cards can be used in offline or online stores.

Best Buy has already had experience with trade-in programs. It launched one for iPhones, and it was an instant success. However, Best Buy has not commented whether they will offer trade-ins in the future or not.
