Apple has a bad influence on the hard drive industry
John Coyne, who is a CEO at Western Digital, revealed yesterday that tablet devices like Apple's iPad are negatively affecting on the hard drive business. Talking in numbers, iPad may reduce shipments of low-end netbooks and laptops on 10-20 percent over the next few quarters. But Coyne tried to reassure investors the business will be still profitable:
"What I would say to investors is to look at the long-term demand for storage, the fact is the most appropriate solution for mass volume storage is hard drives and to look at the long-term progress the industry has made over the last 10 years".

iPad Will Probably Be Available In WalMart Next Week
Yesterday MacRumors received the photos of an email, that was presumably sent to Walmart managers and where it is said that every company’s store will initially receive five units of all existing iPad models and ten units of Apple's official iPad accessories. They will appear in 1,000 stores in the end of the October, other stores will be selling them in the beginning of November. Along with bringing the devices and accessories to the shelves the displays in the stores will be translating videos about iPad's features.
Walmart plans to start selling the iPads in 2010 were revealed in May. Previously the company overhauled its electronic departments in retail stores to include the Apple section in addition.
Also, Walmart will be the latest company that will start selling the iPad in this year. Target has been selling the devices since Oct. 3 and Best Buy stores stared offering the iPad since it was launched in April.

HDR photos in iOS 4.1 could be a result of Apple acquisition
The addition of high dynamic range photos to the iPhone 4 via the iOS 4.1 software update may have come from the purchase of Imsense Ltd., a company that creates software to improve the quality of digital photos.
The company developed technology it dubbed "eye-fidelity," which allows for dynamic range correction in both standard and HDR photos. This is accomplished by recovering details lost in underexposed and overexposed pictures. The resulting effect, in some cases, results in superior pictures when taken in daylight or a bright setting.
