At the annual ”MFi” conference, which was held in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, Apple notified manufacturers of accessories that they have to comply with the corporate ethics selling officially licensed products. According to TUAW, the certified devices such as "made for iPhone, iPad and iPod, will only be able from companies that adhere to corporate standards." Along with the iPad mini, Apple will release another new iPad model on November 2 – four-generation iPad. The embargo on reviews has been lifted, but they include no real surprises. The iPad 4 launched only seven months after the iPad 3 release.
Yesterday Apple hold a fourth quarter earnings call where CEO Tim Cook explained the company's pricing philosophy for the iPad mini.
When we set out to build it, we didn't set out to build a small, cheap tablet. We set out to build a smaller iPad that offered the full iPad experience. The difference between us and the competition is profound. 35% larger screen than 7" tablets. 2 great cameras. Fastest communications with dual bank Wi-Fi. Fit and finish of our precision enclosure is breathtaking when held in your hands. That's what we've done, the iPad mini has higher costs and gross margin is significantly below our corporate average. Height of the cost curve, but we want to make a large number and we're going to work to try to get down the cost curve and get more efficient with manufacturing as we've done with our other products.
The new iPad mini is compatible with Apple's Siri voice recognizing assistant, however the iPad 2 still won't be able to access the feature. It seems that Siri will never make it to the iPad 2, as the tablet was only mentioned in passing in a brief a comparison to the new iPad mini. It is unclear why Apple decided to once again pass over the iPad 2, though it could mean that Apple may axe the product from the tablet line as it is more expensive and less capable than its newly-released sibling. Moreover, the mini-model of the iPad has the same screen resolution as the 9.7-inch iPad 2's.
Yesterday Apple introduced the new iPad mini which has the same resolution as iPad 2 in a smaller 7.9 inch form factor that's two thirds the price of the latest iPad. But last year, it was more likely that Apple would make the iPod touch larger than reducing the size of the iPad. Apple went far further and did both, expanding the Retina Display iPod touch (along with iPhone 5), and scaling the iPad down.
This effectively gives Apple two very different new devices with nearly the same pixel count and very similar prices: the 4 inch iPod touch ($299/32GB and $399/64GB) and 7.9 inch iPad mini (16GB/$329; 32GB/$429; 64GB/$529; each with a 4G LTE cellular option for $130 more).
Today Apple Senior Vice President Philip Schiller announced the new iPad mini.
iPad Mini is 23 percent thinner and 53 percent lighter than iPad 3. It is just 7.2mm thin, and weights 0.68 pounds. The new iPad mini features a 7.9-inch Multi-Touch display, A5 CPU, FaceTime HD and 5MP iSight cameras, 10 hours of battery life, fast 802.11n 150 Mbps Wifi and worldwide LTE. iPad mini features the same number of pixels (1024 x 768) as the original iPad and iPad 2, so it is possible to run and use all 270000 apps designed specifically for iPad. The best part is that you can hold in one hand.
The iPad Mini price starts from $329 for 16GB Wifi model up tp $659 for 64Gb WiFi+3G/4G:
According to The Korea Times
9to5Mac offered their suggestions related to the entry price point for Apple’s upcoming smaller iPad set to be released October 23rd. The entry price will be reportedly between the base model of the new, fifth-generation iPod touch ($299) and the currently shipping WiFi-only 16GB iPad 2 ($399). So, the base model of the smaller iPad will likely be priced at a minimum of $329 in the United States. A starting price of $329 makes sense. The new iPod touch will continue to be cheaper than Apple’s new tablet, while the smaller iPad’s pricing will also be nicely spaced under and between the new full-sized iPads.
According to a
“The new 13-inch MacBook Pro will be sold in two configurations, with differing processors and storage, and will be available for purchase soon after introduction. Like with the 15-inch MacBook Pro lines, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will be sold (at a higher price) in addition to the current non-Retina display model”.
Earlier this year, Apple revealed its plans to build a second solar farm several miles away from its new data center in Maiden, North Carolina. The new 20-megawatt facility would complement another 20-megawatt solar farm that seems to be nearing competion across the street from Apple’s data center.

First third-party 30-pin Lightning adapters just appeared on Amazon. The manufacturer is the company called Nanotech that is now offering pre-orders for them. There was some concern when a recent report said Apple would be the exclusive manufacturer of 9-pin adapters at a price of $10 each, but this rumor looks to be false.
