Retina MacBook Pro Users Still Complaining of Image Persistence
Back in late June,early purchasers of Apple's Retina MacBook Pro reported on the image persistence caused by some production issues. Having used a device for a certain period of time, they noticed its screen became vaguely and left traces of previous images.
Apple replaced the defective devices. DisplayMate’s Ray Soneira has mentioned the persistence was caused by early production issue, but three months later, users still complain of the released product’s “ghosting” issue. A lot of messages were posted on MacRumors' forums and at Apple Support Communities which are largely reported on the issues related to the LG displays and experienced by the manufacturer. Samsung Displays were not affected by the issue.
Analyst Expects iPhone 5 Sales Will Hit 8 Million Units In Opening Weekend
Following Apple announcement made earlier today that it received two million pre-orders for new iPhone in the first day of its availability, analyst from Piper Jaffray Gene Munster has issued a new research note forecasting that Apple will sale from 6 to 10 million units during the launch weekend. He bases his estimates on impressive pre-order numbers and comparison with last year’s pre-orders for the iPhone 4S. He noted:

Today Apple a press release saying that iPhone 5 saw record-breaking pre-orders of more than two million units in the first twenty four hours of availability. The performance breaks iPhone 4S record that saw one million units pre-ordered during the first day of availability. Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller said:
First Third-Party 30-pin Lightning Adapter Is Available On Amazon
First third-party 30-pin Lightning adapters just appeared on Amazon. The manufacturer is the company called Nanotech that is now offering pre-orders for them. There was some concern when a recent report said Apple would be the exclusive manufacturer of 9-pin adapters at a price of $10 each, but this rumor looks to be false.

Apple Announces September 19th Release Date for iOS 6
Other announcement Apple made yesterday was the release of iOS 6 mobile operating system, which was first announced in June at the company's WWDC keynote event and will be available on September 19th as a free download for the 4S, 4, 3GS, new iPad, iPad 2 and 4th generation iPod Touch. Apple already detailed the specific iOS 6 features that would be available to certain iOS devices back in June. Siri will be enhanced to provide movie information, sports scores, and the ability to post to Facebook and Twitter. The new Passbook app will hold tickets, passes, and payment cards for participating businesses. Safari will have a full-screen mode for better browsing and iCloud tabs to save your open tabs and offer immediate access to them on your other iOS devices and your computer.
Apple Announces Major iTunes Update Coming Next Month
During yesterday’s special media event Apple unveiled a radically redesigned version of iTunes for Mac and PC featuring a "dramatically simpler" interface. The updated iTunes will receive iCloud integration to show all your media content saved in Apple's cloud storage service and save your position in movies or TV shows automatically so that you can pick up where you left off on another device.

Upcoming OS X Mountain Lion version may solve laptop battery life woes
The unscientific test carried out by The Mac Observer claims to show significant boost in MacBook battery life using a new developer build 12C35 of OS X Mountain Lion, with the latest beta showing an 85-minute increase from the current 10.8.1.
Using OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard as a baseline, the compiled test data showed a significant hit to battery performance with the introductions of 10.7 Lion and 10.8 Mountain Lion. Upon release, Lion lost over 40 minutes of battery life and took three revisions to regain Snow Leopard power efficiency. In contrast, Mountain Lion saw a huge 105 minute loss in battery performance when it was released in July, with the latest 10.8.1 version moving the OS only 30 minutes closer to baseline.
iPad, iPad Mini, and iPhone 5 Cases Compared to an iPhone 4S
MacRumors reader Michael Rou, who managed to obtain both a pre-production iPhone 5 case and a pre-production iPad mini case, posted the comparison photos on Flickr. The cases design is base on the recently leaked images and specifications coming out of Foxconn factories. The cases were produced by one of the case manufacturers ahead of the rumored devices launches. Apple is expected to introduce the new iPhone on September 12th at a special media event. The iPad mini is rumored to be launched in October.
Apple's alleged 9-pin dock connector may be same size as Micro USB
The side-by-side comparison shots of what appear to be a Micro-A USB cable with the smaller 9-pin dock connector Apple is rumored to be deploying with the sixth-generation iPhone were released by French blog nowhereelse.fr on Saturday. The purported 9-pin format is nearly identical in size to the Micro USB plug, though Apple's rumored part appears to be slightly longer and thinner.
Publishing Company Blue Toad Admits “FBI” UDIDs Were Stolen From Its Servers
Last week a hacker group released around 1 million UDIDs from iOS devices. The group said that they stole the list from the FBI, but a day later the law enforcement organization rejected this claim.
