This is step-by-step instructions on how to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone 3G on iOS 4.2.1 firmware using RedSn0w 0.9.6b5 for Windows.

For iPhone 3GS use this tutorial.

IMPORTANT FOR UNLOCKERS
During this process you can update your baseband to the 06.15 version. If you are on 05.14 or 05.15 or higher you will need to do this to unlock. You do not need to do this for jailbreak only. Please read the following very carefully before deciding whether to do this.

The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.6b5 for unlockers stuck at the 05.14 or 05.15 basebands.

The new redsn0w 0.9.6beta5 is out.  It gives both Windows and OSX users the ability to flash the iPad 06.15 baseband on iPhone3G or iPhone3GS.  It fetches the baseband files directly from Apple for now (the only IPSW you ever point it at is the stock IPSW for the FW on your iPhone right now).  There may be a long delay while it’s doing this (their servers are currently getting pounded).

After iPad's appearance in late April many Apple's competitors decided to release their own tablets. Almost four months had passed since that moment and now we decided to study the market of iPad's rivals and write down every one that worth attention.

Chinese companies are producing iPad clones that will have Windows 7 OS pre-installed on it. Clone makers are interested in putting it on sale as soon as possible as there is still no information about whether Apple will ship iPad to China or not.

Some Chinese stores have already started taking pre-orders for the new Apple devices. They hope to import device from those of other countries where it will be officially on sale.

Many users are unable to sync their iPhones on PCs equipped with Windows 7 and Intel P55 Express chipset. Gigabyte is the first company who fixed this issue. They've released a beta BIOS that addresses the problem. Asus and MSI, which also use the P55 express on their motherboards, haven’t issued any updates yet, but hopefully will soon.

Microsoft Windows 7 will probably be a very popular OS. iPhone is already one of the most popular phones. So compatibility between the two is expected, right? Well, many users report in Apple forums that they get "error 0xE8000065" message whenever they attempts to sync. The problems might be in Intel P55 Express chipset's USB controller. We hope that either Intel or Microsoft will find a solution.

Geohot released a beta software for iPhone 3GS jailbreak called PurpleRa1n. It is beta and has some issues, but it gets the job done if you’re patient.

Requirements: You must have
1) Windows xp sp2, Vista, Windows 7, MAC OS
2) iTunes 8.2.0.23
3) Purplera1n software

The jailbreak is a bit incomplete. The kernel vm_mem patch is not present so Winterboard will not work as some other critical tweaks. (SBSettings does work!).

Use with caution and be patient. If you're not in a hurry, wait for the release from DevTeam.
