Apple Sold More Smartphones Than Samsung in Q4 2016
According to the latest report from Gartner, Apple sold more smartphones than Samsung in the fourth quarter of 2016. Apple’s smartphone market share accounted for 17.9%, while that of Samsung was equal to 17.8%. The different between two smartphone makers is small – only 256,000 units.
Chinese Firm May Supply OLED Screens for Future iPhones
A Chinese firm called BOE Technology Group Co. may soon start supplying Apple with displays for new iPhones. According to Bloomberg, the company is currently building two factories in China that will produce AMOLED displays. Even though Apple has been testing sample displays manufactured by BOE for months, the final decision is yet to come. Both companies are currently in talks.
Warning: New Malware Attacks Mac Users
A new piece of malicious software for Mac computers called Xagent has been recently found by the Bitdefender security experts. It is a modular backdoor that penetrates into the system and can steal browser passwords, take desktop screenshots, and even steal iPhone backups stored on the computer. The malware was reportedly created by a group of hackers called APT28.
Only 5.8-inch iPhone 8 to Feature Glass Body – Report
According to the latest report from DigiTimes, only the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone 8 will feature a body made of reinforced glass with a stainless steel frame. The 4.7-inch iPhone 7s will have an aluminum back panel similar to the one its predecessor had. The design of the 5.5-inch handset hasn’t yet been confirmed, supply chain insiders claim.

According to the latest report from The Korea Herald, Apple has ordered 60 million OLED panels from Samsung. This order accounted for 5 trillion won or $4.35 billion and is an additional one.
