Apple Drops AirPrint Compatibility for Second-Generation iPod Touch
Apple dropped support for AirPrint in iOS 4.2 on the iPod touch 2G. When Apple just released AirPrint on September 15th, the second-generation iPod touch was listed as a compatible device for the service, but only two days later the company dropped support and modified the press release to note support for only the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch.
Apple Planned HDR Photography On iPhone 3GS?
We’ve gotten some evidences proving that Apple originally planned to include HDR support for the iPhone 3GS, but dropped it. Just look at this picture, found in the iOS SDK:
Jailbreak iOS 4.1 with RedSn0w 0.9.6 b1
DevTeam recently released new version of redsn0w to jailbreak iOS 4.1. New RedSn0w 0.9.6 b1 supports iOS 4.0 and iOS 4.1 running on iPhone 3G or iPod touch 2G.
There is only Mac OS X x86 version, that you can download here.
Redsn0w is easy to use:
- Download firmware here.
- Launch redsn0w 0.9.6 b1
- Select your stock 4.1 or 4.0 ipsw (you’ve already used this to update your device to 4.1 or 4.0)
- Select “Install Cydia” and any of the other options shown above, then click “Next”. Use DFU mode to install the jailbreak.
As usual DevTeam reminds us:
IF YOU USE THE ULTRASN0W UNLOCK, PLEASE WAIT FOR PWNAGETOOL TO SUPPORT 4.1. DO NOT USE REDSN0W
That’s because to use redsn0w at 4.1, you need to already have updated to official 4.1 from Apple. If you do that, you lose the ultrasn0w unlock (possibly forever).

iPhone 4 vs iPod Touch 4 Comparison Videos
This week the letemsvetemapplem.eu posted a couple of videos, which compare the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch, as well as the iPhone 3GS and iPad. The iPhone 4, latest iPod touch and iPad all sport Apple's custom A4 processor, though the iPhone 4 has twice the RAM as the 256MB found in the iPod touch and iPad.
How to jailbreak iOS 4.0.2 iPhone 3G
You cannot use JailBreakMe method to jailbreak and unlock iOS 4.0.2 on iPhone 3G. However you can still jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3G using redsn0w. Here are the instructions:
- Download the latest RedSn0w 0.9.5-b5 in our utilities page here.
- Download firmware images for iOS 4.0 here.
- Run RedSn0w and point it at the 4.0 IPSW. (Yes – point it at the 4.0 IPSW even though you're at 4.0.2). This will also hacktivate your iPhone3G at 4.0.1 if you haven't already been activated by iTunes.
- If you need a carrier unlock - install ultrasn0w in Cydia (add repository http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com). For T-Mobile in the USA remember to turn off 3G mode in Settings→General→Network.

iOS 4 “cloned” to HTC device
It looks like iOS 4.0 has successfully been cloned to another device, an HTC one in this case, and everything from iOS seems to be there. As iSpazio points out, the porting of iOS to another company’s device seems like a long-shot, so this is most likely the best, most realistic iOS clone ever. As you’ll see in the video, everything works including folders, quick-app switching, spotlight, and all the keyboards.
Will T-Mobile Get iPhone 3GS, not 4, later this year?
Let's look at the following statement of the editor of Wired, Chris Anderson:
"T-Mobile's manager told him that the iPhone 3GS (not a 4 model) is going to arrive a bit later this year".
Frankly speaking, many users are disappointed because they are looking forward to getting the iPhone 4.

While we won’t know for absolutely certain until the final release version of iOS 4.1 for iPhone arrives sometime this week (maybe Wednesday), it’s looking like HDR photography will be exclusive to iPhone 4 and not available for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users.

iPhone 3G Speed Test: iOS 4.0 versus iOS 4.1
We remember that iOS 4.0 was so slow on our 3G. Late last week, Apple announced, among other things, that iOS 4.1 fixed performance on the iPhone 3G. We put their claim to the test. In the video above, the iPhone 3G battles itself in an epic speed test to find out if Apple's claims are true: Is iOS 4.1 faster than 4.0, or is it just a wash?
