HP Discontinues Smartphone And Tablet Hardware Business
According to Bloomberg’s , Hewlett-Packard, one of the largest computer makers worldwide, is going to announce plans to spin off its personal computer business in order to focus on cloud-based services and software. The computer maker confirmed that its board of directors has authorized the decision of partial or full separation of its Personal Systems Group (PSG) from the company by means of spin-off or other transaction. The announcement about spin off is planned to be made later today after the company publishes its quarterly financial results.
Apple Sues More Successfully Despite Smaller Patent Portfolio
It is needless to say, patent-related legal arguments were widely covered by media lately. It is clear that the more the company has patents, the more advantage it will have over its opponent in legal disputes. Apple Is A Top Performer In Mobile PC Market
Today analytics firm published its estimations of mobile PC sales for the 2Q 2011. The research counts both tablets and notebooks, and Apple managed to outpace all its rivals with 21.1% of the market share. The company easily passed (by nearly 4 million units) second-place HP, which has 15% share with 9.7 million units shipped.
AT&T Will Start Offering LTE Devices On August 21
This week AT&T has that the sales of the first LTE devices, AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G and AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G, will start on August 21st. All customers will be able to utilize 5 gigabytes of data for $50 every month and after the limit will be exceeded 1 gigabyte of data will cost 10$. It is also known that AT&T USBConnect Adrenaline which is LTE-upgradeable will receive an update to LTE on August 26.
AT&T has also told about its plans to sell 4G LTE using five market places later this summer, which are situated in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. All customers with 4G LTE-consistent devices will have access to 4G LTE speeds as AT&T's 4G LTE service will be already available.

Apple Testing IPhone With LTE Support?
As you know release of the next-generation iPhone is expected in September. It’s not clear yet whether this smartphone will support 4G transmission technology LTE (Long Term Evolution), but BGR that Apple and some mobile carrier in US have already tested iPhone models with LTE support.
Google Has Acquired Motorola Mobility for $12.5 Billion
Today co-founder and CEO of Google Larry Page officially said that their company has acquired one of the largest smartphone manufacturer – Motorola, specifically Motorola Mobility. The company was sold for $12.5 billion, which is 63% more than the closing price of the company on Friday, August 12. This deal has yet to be approved by several official authorities in USA and European Union, as well as Motorola Mobility’s shareholders. All transition processes is expected to finish in the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012.
