DigiTimes reports that Apple will begin volume production of rumored 7.85-inch iPad in September. Apple’s goal is said to release the new iPad before the holiday season of this year.

“Supply volume of Apple's 7.85-inch iPad is estimated to reach four million units per month starting in September in order to prepare for demand from year-end holidays, according to sources from the upstream supply chain”.

The timing corresponds to the previous rumors claiming that Apple would ramp up production of the smaller iPad in September. Back in May iMore reported that Apple targeted an October release for the iPad Mini with a target price within $200-$250 range. iMore also claimed that Apple will announce iPad Mini, along with the iPhone 5, on the media event on September 12th.

This date seems certain for the September media event since it has been confirmed by many publications. However, Apple has yet to make an official announcement of the event.

While many park leaks for the next iPhone have already showed what to expect in the device, part leaks for the iPad Mini have been scarce. The late ramp up in iPad Mini production may have been deliberately timed by the company to correspond with the device’s launch event in order to avoid as many leaks for its new tablet.
